Took two attempts to get it to me and if you know camera's you don't really need this but it's still helpful enough for some of the newer features.

- The Best
I've read a few camera books over the years this is the best. A small book a manual type books go but the way it's put together is great. I thought I understood the workings of the Canon 40D until I bought this book. If you are a beginner get this book, it you think you know it all get this book - you will not be disappointed - Five Star +

- Better Than Expected
The manuals that you get with cameras tend to be 'adequate' rather than a full explanation in any detail of its features. It will say "does this" rather describe exactly what "this" is and why it may be useful to you. Truth to tell I just put my 40D on manual settings and go from there shooting in RAW as a norm.
However digital cameras as with most things based upon circuit boards and computing power, come jam packed with "Features" that it would cost more money to exclude than just leave in so you are faced with a bewildering array of 'potential' quite a lot of which come from point and shoot cameras which you may not be interested in but also other "useful stuff" that you would if you knew exactly what it was. That is where this book comes in.
I was rather disappointed that there is no colour, all in black and white but, once you get over that, the content is excellent, the explanations very sound. I found several features or useful short cuts to get certain things done quicker and easier so I got value from it. In addition and as photography is about concentrating on the picture and "knowing your kit" thoroughly so that you don't think about it, I am quite content about the "Features" it has and I ignore because they don't fit into my style of photography.
I bought a similar book from a different series (not Magic Lantern Guides), for my back up body, the 450D which was in colour but it really wasn't really as good on the content being at times too basic and too 'gushy' in the way it was written.
