This is one of the best books I've ever read! It was spellbindingly brilliant! I loved it. I'd read the fist book in the seriese - The Gift - and was so enthralled that I just had to get this one.
Maerad and Cadvan continue their quest in finding the 'Treesong' but find themselves up against unbalieveable odds. Such as Stormdogs, Iradugals as well as Hulls. And Maerad is drawn closer and closer to her enemy, The WinterKing - the auther of her sorrows.
If you loved the fist book, you'll love this one! I guarrantee it!
P.S. Sorry for any incorrect spelling!

- AN EXCELLENT READ!!!
An excellent 2nd in the series of Pellinor! Do yourself a favour and read this book, I couldnt put it down!

I bought this for my eleven year old daughter and she absolutely loved it - it was read in two days flat (and half of one night, I think, judging by the bleary-eyedness and her lamp's still being on first thing one morning!) My daughter's a discerning and mature reader for her age and her praise is high indeed. Avid readers of Fantasy up to mid teens and perhaps beyond will love this book and it is entirely suitable for the age-group.

- Superb
A beautifully layered and riveting follow-up to The Gift. The author paints her landscapes so vividly you feel like you dreampt them. The language is simple and enriching. Maerad, the heroine of both The Gift and The Riddle is deeply engaging, and her inner journey in both books is just as profound as the exciting quests she undertakes.I found myself even more propelled through The Riddle than The Gift so if you loved The Gift, don't hesitate, get your hands on a copy of The Riddle now and free up your diary!!

- Answers to "The Gift"
The Riddle is the second of the four books of Pellinor written by Alison Croggon which follows on from The Gift The Gift (Pellinor). The Gift establishes the characters of the girl Maerad and her saviour and mentor, Cadvan, together with Maerad's brother Hem. The first book leaves leaves us with the brother and sister parting so that Maerad can search for the meaning of the Treesong. The Riddle takes up the search. As with the first book the tale follows a fantasy, Lord of the Rings style story which takes the reader to understanding Maerad's part of her Gift.
I read the Gift and immeiately ordered the following three books, The Riddle, The Crow The Crow: The Third Book of Pellinorand The SingingThe Singing: The Fourth Book of Pellinor. I did not put them down until the whole tale reached its climax. It is a mark of the story that you end up missing the characters.

From the first chapter I was hooked, I had to go and buy the remaining three books in the series, this is an amazing & unique story, it will engross you with hours of enyoyment...
So many others have given detailed analyis of this book,I'd be repeating what they have written, needless to say Alison Croggan has excelled & created an entirely new world with enduringly loveable characters. A book you'll want to keep & add to.
