- Judge Grisham Delivers
I spotted this book on the best sellers rack and thought i'd give it a go. The back convinced me to buy it, the book seemed to have a very good plot.
Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the book but I do not think it's description is fitting. The book itself was a pleasant read, I enjoyed the fact that it was told from the point of view of a newcomer newspaper editor, giving it a certain style in which u can relate too. The heart warming relationship between him and Miss Callie is a lovely extra and the ending was very sad but predictable.
Though this was all good in the book, I did feel it lacked the pace, excitement and drama that the blurb claimed it would have and i must say that I was quite disappointed because of this. The book drifted at times and I felt like I was reading a biography more than a thriller.I think that the back of the book should have definately been re-written as, although it is a nice book to read, the words and plot are misleading.
Still it was a lovely story and Grisham certainly knows his stuff.

- A gripping story
This was a light-hearted book to read. It was fast-paced book. I consider it to be one of Grisham's best. Grisham returned to legal thriller with style after his most recent books (Bleachers, Painted House, etc.). The Juror is presented through the eyes of the local newspaper editor. Like all Grisham books, it comes to a very sudden and abrupt ending, but for a change, it doesn't deviate from the story .In this novel John Grisham has created an intense, fascinating and revealing study of a small southern town, and created lively characters that developed with the story. His details are plentiful. DISCIPLES OF FORTUNE, THE RUNAWAY JURY, THE TRIUMPH OF THE SUN are also lovely historical fictions that stirs the adrenaline flow.

- Grisham still on top of his game!
I have been a John Grisham fan for many years, and have come to rely on him for a good read, and so far have never been disappointed. This book follows the standard Grisham formula but with the heat turned up. I never thought i would be physically upset by the death of a convicted murderer, but therein lies the skill of Grisham. A wonderfully written book, that for once actually ties up its loose ends before finishing. If you are stood in the bookshop at the airport/train station, wondering which novel will get you through the journey, i cannot recommend this book highly enough. Enjoy!

- mediocre
I haven't read a grisham book for a while but this one caught my eye and sounded like a good read. The story follows a rape and murder in deep south USA in the early 70's. the story revolves around the community, the perpetrator and his rich family, and is actually written from the perspective of a twenty something newspaper editor.
the book could have been exciting but sadly it wasn't. Much of the book seemed superfluous and the story just dragged at times. Some of the characters seemed out of place and added little, or nothing to the developing story.
I ended up skim reading large sections of the book that seemed irrelevant. the ending, which I thought would be exciting, was desperately poor and left me feeling hugely disappointed.
Whilst he isnt the only bestselling author to do so, Grisham sadly seems to be on cruise control - banging out one mediocre novel each year and living on former glories.

- another winner....
There is no need to praise Grisham any longer - the author's popularity grows every day. You know that you can be safe by buying one of his novels as they will never let you down.
I got this book for Christmas, and again, as with all the other Grisham books, just wanted to keep reading. The best part of this one is that it is written in the first person narrative from a Journalist's point of view. Still very "unputdownable" although I wouldn't vote it one of his best.
This time the storyline is about a murderer, who is being tried for raping and murdering a lady in front of her children, who threatens revenge on the jurors if they decide to convict him. Unknowing that life in Mississpi means only 20 years minimum for both rape and murder, the jury decide to disgard the death sentence and so he goes to prison. But then not even half way through his sentence he manages to get paroled and returns to his home county....
If you are a Grisham lover, then you don't want to miss out on this one as you get the same thrills as you do from the other novels. If you are a Grisham beginner, I would also recommend "A Time to Kill" and "The Testament" as these are my favourites!!
