- I Shall Forever Feel Sorry For Tulip And Guilty, Too.Guilty.
This book is a very touching story of how a young girl in a new place makes a friend with the wrong type of person. This is a common situation which you can see in schools all over the world. I believe that Natalie didn't know what she was getting into and i think that she was friends with Tulip A) becasue she was scared of her and B) because she thought she could change Tulip and make her a kind and loving person. I think that Natalie felt guilty because it was partly her fault. Maybe Natalie felt that if she had just been a little more surrportive and stood up for her and helped a her that bit more that she wouldn't have gone past the limit. In conculsion this is a must read book and it is great for children of all ages and is a wonderful tale of friendship and betrayl and of course guilt. This story pulls on your heart strings and sends a pang of unwanted guilt and emotion towards Tulip into your mind and heart.

- A Very Favourite
The concept of what is evil has always been of interest to me. I find the idea that someone can be evil and someone else is not when we are all brought up in the same world fascinating. This is the central idea for Anne Fine's children's/teen novel.
Natalie is new at school and makes friends with Tulip - but Tulip isn't all she seems. Okay, a lame sum up but you've read other reviews and know what this book is about.
The story is so simply told and it is a simple storyline. Nothing is sensationalised, it is all very gentle. The ending is just perfect too, it's just what I wanted.
This is a bittersweet novel that appears to be just a kid's book with nothing but light entertainment to offer but it is so much more than that. It still affects me now. Get it!

- Beneath the Surface of the Tulip Touch
Beneath the surface of the Tulip Touch is the society held belief that punishment for children and later for adults is acceptable. However, I believe the author disagrees with this view and goes to great length to show how punishment is detrimental to everyone. After all, on the book cover it states that 'No-one is born evil'. So if Tulip was not born evil, then it must have been the abuse she received that made her turn as she finally did. The story demonstrates how society needs to change from its uncaring, insular, self centred approach to a closer knit, loving and helpful one if all children, no matter their background, their opportunities or their abilities are to survive and thrive and be positive, contributing, loving members of society and life. The two young girls can only go so far in helping each other with the trials of life and the story clearly highlights how adults must be more responsible for the care, protection and education of all children. This book is as excellent as all Fine's other books and as usual deals with real current, vital issues.
