Rating: 5 of out 5 - Incredibly moving.....

The media portrayed Nancy Spungen as a strung-out, worthless tart. The media couldn't have been more wrong. Hearing from Debbie Spungen, a mother who obviously sacrificed much for her child's well-being, is refreshing and gives a brand new perspective to the media's portrayal of public figures and their lives. I had originally picked up this novel to read about The Sex Pistols, and instead found a moving, often sad, and yes, often joyful portrayal of a mentally disturbed little girl that grew up to become a bright, often tortured young woman. Nancy's intelligence shines through in this book. So does her family's love. And so does the media's often cruel, heartless behavior toward families of public figures, whether willing or not. You'll never forget this book.

Rating: 3 of out 5 - this book shows an evil power-hungry mother

I read this book, and I can't believe anyone could care for Nancy's mom. Nancy was the innocent victim her entire life. Her mother is the most vile thing around. She never loved Nancy. She even admitted she wished she had an opportunity to have an abortion. So therefor never cared for her. She was married , got pregnant, and says "How could this happen?" gets pregnant twice more, and repeats the same statement. What a useless idiot. Oh, then everything is Nancy's fault. She even had the nerve to say that Nancy pushed her into having an affair. Then when Nancy starts getting national attention, she goes "Why would anyone care about her, what has she ever done?" (or something along that line) She couldn't even be happy for her daughter. All she ever was was jealous and hateful of her daughter. And then when Nancy died she questioned why her other daughter would cry over it. And to top it all off, she didn't even give Nancy a headstone. This book is sad. It terrible to read how parents can abuse their own child. Then she starts this victim rights organization so she can bring some media attention her way, which is a complete joke since she obviously never cared for her daughter. Anybody who thinks Deborah is a fine person is inhuman in my opinion.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - I am not finished with this book, but it is amazing.

I have not finished this book yet, but it is so fascinating, raw, and simply unbelievable. It keeps you locked inside the Spungen home and unable to comprehend how Deborah and her family were able to deal with Nancy, even as a baby. I totally recommend it to anyone, especially people who have children with mental problems.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - This book was so intense,I couldn't put it down.

Deborah Spungen,Nancy's mother...gives a real life dramatic detail of her life raising Nancy Spungen.I felt so sorry for the family, and also Nancy. The way she died was so horrible...she was NOT just a junkie...but Sid Vicious'best friend, lover and soul mate. It's a MUST READ for sure!!! Dee

Rating: 5 of out 5 - great book

yeah, i read this book, i think that it was really good, i read it a couple of times actually. it really shows how nancy was hurting and all the pain that she put her family through. it is good to actually read something that has meaning to people other than the super-smart adults.
