Rating: 1 of out 5 - Meh...

It was mediocre. The story wavers so much that you dont really know what to focus on. At the start for example, you are introduced to these charcters, Bill the vampire for example seems incredibly... flacid as a character and the relationship with him and Sookie seems to grow incredibly artificially. Why he hangs out with a group like that I will never know.

And why should I care what Sookie gets up to in the daytime? It's a story about Vampires! Give me some blood, some teeth for crying out loud...

I'll admit that the synthetic blood idea is quite interesting but thats about it...

Meh...

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Brilliant series

I haven't quite finished but I am absolutely loving this series of books. Like a lot of people, I bought them because of the TV show, which I thought was excellent. As other reviewers have said, the books are different but they are every bit as good. Very sexy and lots of fun. Not a heavy read and not too serious but extremely imaginative and entertaining.

Rating: 1 of out 5 - Written by a 10 year old?

First of all I borrowed these books off of a friend as i was loving the TV series and as much as i tried to enjoy these books i couldn't. They are very, very poorly written and at times it felt like i was reading a story written by a primary school child. They are riddled with grammatical and spelling errors and the dialogue is shocking throughout. As someone said it is reminiscent of a bad porn film without being as explicit. I can see why Alan Ball edited large sections for the TV show and i think i will stick with his vision for the series rather than spend money on books that feel like a child could have done a better job.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - A must read series

Not being much of a reader (I've probably read 5 books since I left school 10 years ago) and not really knowing what sort of book I would enjoy, I found these books by chance and I absolutely loved reading them. I just could not put the books down and as soon as I'd finished one I just had to start the next straight away. Having not seen the TV series I had no expectations or foregone conclusions about the characters and I enjoyed unravelling their personalities myself through the various plot lines. In addition to the vampires, the introduction of weres, shifters, wiccans, witches and fae each with their own hierarchy structures, rituals and practices added more to the books and kept them interesting. The only disappointments I have are reading some reviews that had said what had happened in the book and that I have to wait for the 10th book to be released.

I am now lost as to what to read next that will be as interesting and enjoyable as this series has been.
