Rating: - blew me away

I first saw this film on a scruffy old VHS tape borrowed from a friend. I wasn't expecting much, but I ended up watching it twice on the first day, and buying the DVD shortly afterwards.
I rank this in the same league as Blade Runner. I haven't seen the directors cut yet, but I'm willing to buy it just for the extra 11 minutes, let alone the commentaries.
One of those films you watch again and again.
Far, far better than the matrix.

Rating: - Sans voiceover

I watched the Director's Cut of Dark City last night and I'm pleased to say they've finally removed the voiceover where Keifer Sutherland gives away the entire story during the opening 30 seconds of the movie. What we have now is a mystery that slowly unfolds, as all mystery's should, leading to a surprise ending which truly is - as was originally intended by the director - a surprise ending.

Other changes were quite minor. In fact I think I now have to watch the original again to try to spot them. Still, if this is a film you want to share with others you should get the director's cut rather than the original with the sound turned off during the film's opening, as some people have resorted to doing.

Rating: - WARNING: BLU-RAY VERSION NOT REGION FREE!

The Blu-ray for this movie is listed as being all regions, but it is actually a Region A release, rendering it unwatchable on U.K. Blu-ray players, which I had to find out the hard way. Take care when buying.

Rating: - Top Film!! Must watch!

This is a great film! Strangely ignored when it came out but we would not have "The Matrix" and a whole other genre of films with out this. It basically IS the matrix: Story, styling, concept etc. I look forward to seeing the directors cut!

simply rubbish. a complete waste of time. enough well known names to persuade you to buy or rent but pointless and one of the worst films i have ever seen.
