Rating: - Great film, but lacks DD 5.1 track

As was said above, the film is great. But I had to return it, since it has only a Dolby Pro Logic soundtrack. So for home cinema fans, I suggest the region 1 release which has DD 5.1.

Rating: - Spectacular effects and a superb storyline!!!

i saw this film by chance and it completely dazzled me!!! The storyline is cleverly woven together and the comic-book like characters give the film an edge. The "strangers" are very mysterious and they make a good job of feasting your imagination. I would say that Dark City was in the same league as The Matrix!

Rating: - Great film, shame about the DVD

A bizarre comic book land (think Dick Tracy with less light) and a twisting storyling will keep you gripped, and the plot is very satisfying as it ties up all the loose ends and answers all the questions. But the DVD is really not up to scratch. The transfer is non-anamorphic, the featurette is very 'blink and you'll miss it' and the 'making of' is laughable. This is all an even greater shame when you see that the Region 1 DVD is packed with great things... once again region 2 residents are second class citizens!

Alles, was die Vorteile einer DVD ausmachen, hat der Hersteller Arthaus hier falsch gemacht. Zwar sind Ton- und Bildqualität gut, aber wieso man nur die Auswahl zwischen "Deutsch ohne Untertitel" und "Englisch mit deutschen Untertiteln" hat, muß man mir erstmal erklären ... ein Umschalten ist nicht möglich, Gehörlose haben dabei wenigstens noch die Chance, den Film in Englisch zu sehen, um mitlesen zu können ... wer aber das Original anhören möchte, muß sich von den Untertiteln nerven zu lassen ... Auch das Bonusmaterial läßt sehr zu wünschen übrig. Lediglich einige Interviews sowie ein dilentantisch zusammengeschnittenes "Making off" lassen die CD nur wenig interessanter als eine billigere VideoCD erscheinen ...

Rating: - Ein Meisterwerk

Dies ist mit Abstand der beste Film, den ich je gesehn habe. Man sollte jedoch nicht teuere Effekte erwarten sondern eine fesselnde Story, die jeden in seinen Bann zieht. Nie kann man den nächsten Schritt dieses Meisterwerks vorausahnen und das ist das größte Kompliment, dass man einen Film machen kann. Matrix erscheint dagegen als lauwarmer Aufguss..
