Rating: - Not Just For Kids! ! !

This is one of those movies that can appeal to kids aswell as adults and will have you splitting your sides laughing at the characters.

Basic Plot: The monsters energy supply comes from scarying children at night, however now that culture is moving on its becoming more difficult to scare children, and the monsters are under threat of running out of power.
While this is going on a child escapes into the monster world and ends up in the hands of two monsters to get her back to her own world before anyone finds out.
In the process of doing this they find out things about there boss . . .

Would recommend it to all ages !!

Great & funny film for all the family.
much younger children may find it slightly scary at times, but overall a good movie to sit down & watch as a family.

i bought this DVD for my baby but to tell the truth it was for myself also! the very first time i watched this movie, i was amazed by how good an animated movie can be. i loved the story(so unique) and the characters out of this world but yet so full of wonder, and i just can't express how much my baby loves this movie cause i've watched it like a hundred times..so in all i would say its one of the best animated movie pixar ever created...thanks to Amazon i own the DVD now(which i bought at a very cheap price).

Disney Pixar has produced one of its finest animated comedies in this little gem. The concept of a world populated by monsters, where the screams of frightened children provide the energy needed, is an inspired one. The central pairing of one-eyed wisecracking Mike Wazowski (voiced by Billy Crystal) and furry giant James `Sully' Sullivan (John Goodman), is pivotal to the film's success; the pair continually riffing off one another as they desperately try to deal with something they have inadvertently unleashed into Monsteropolis and which could destroy their home once and for all...

My four and a half year old daughter is absolutely hooked on this DVD and I can completely see why. I thoroughly enjoyed the nods to an adult audience, whilst the slapstick humour, great characters and vibrant colours will enthrall children of all ages.

Rating: - one of pixar's finest

The Nineties and early 2000s will be seen as a golden age of animation, but what's specially amazing about the finest Disney/Pixar films, like this and the two Toy Story films, is that far from relying on the latest animation effects to please audiences, the film-makers have created perfect gems of scripts that stretch one's whole idea of characterisation and story-telling. Why do so many of the critics seem to think that this film's overly cute? Name me one adult film that contains a wittier dissection of office politics; not to mention the gentle humour at the expense of self-aggrandizing organisations that thrive on paranoia (Child Detection Agency = CIA, anyone?) and health/environmental scares ('Nothing is as toxic as a human child!'). The way the basic set-up of the story is presented through a monsters' training seminar plus a TV commercial for the scare factory is mouth-wateringly clever, and as for the brilliant logic of the duplicate doors ... try writing a re-telling and you'll see how totally cinematic the conception is. All this sly humour for the adults, plus non-stop chase, rescue and spectacle for the kids. Sheer genius!
