Love the DVD's but unfortunately one DVD is scratched and is impossible to watch. Very disappointed.

Rating: - "Wisteria Lane" ("Desperate Housewives":season 1):every bit , a masterfully, original series.

Each TV chapter can nearly stand alone as an interesting episode in itself ,yet, leaves you " panting" to know what becomes of the main womanly characters and how they will get on with their lives.
Painful, disasterous , humiliating and then often joyful and fullfilling events, fill the lives of these tightly bound neighbors. "Wisteria Lane" is just that. Flowers smelling sweet yet "wistful" as the name of the flowers suggest! Lynette, Bree, and Gabby and all the others . . .
Nearly too human to be considered good to show to teenagers.( I would put a 15 - year - old age limit on this series.) It is consumable for mature people . The morals & ethics of the so-called heroes and
heroines are questionable & not "living-room"consumption for youngsters. I have friends that are shocked
that I live for this series but know others who do and my adult daughter knows of people who have
taken their vacation week from responsible jobs to watch ALL the episodes AT ONCE! ( Shows the decadence of the Western World a la 2009) of which I must admit to being a member having pulled some "all-nighter"s to watch series 2! etc. (It was VERY DARK DECEMBER WEATHER IN MY COUNTRY!)
These characters are all too human AND VERY LIKEABLE! (Great character development and consistent)
and each has his/her own set of ideals and values . . .and problems doing what they can get away with all the implied dramatic consequences of lying and really faulty behavior , even omissions like letting people die (a type of murder) in the moral sense, yet, these people are easy on themselves , tho' some DO suffer from their own terribly misguided consciences! Since none are typical and we can literally nearly see how they think , we feel mildly superior and sympathetic ,yet, they could be you and me as they weave their little webs of deceit and intrigue , we actually find ouselves empathizing with their ghastly bad choices and failings! The situations and dialogue are laugh- out- loud funny OR so "painful" so that you need a kleenex! I bought all four series and have just finished viewing "series 5" on TV, so, I am a very enthusiastic viewer of this rare combi-comedy / drama/ action & thriller: viewing! (Great skillful acting!)
I looked forward to each episode of this product & series 5 and hope they can continue the series somehow.
The people who are ordinary everyday humans who try to hide their misdeameanors or get revenge on each other or love each other in their way or are undiscovered mental patients are very convincing as good actresses and actors! ( MY personal diagnosis for what makes this a wonderful experience is that it is not too
far-fetched from the REAL WORLD or slushy sentimental. . . yet, somehow these well-meaning people get into embarrassing "fixes", we can all identify with. Luckily, of course, not ALL the situations! but, at least some! There is something for everyone & the storytelling aspect of TV camera and scenes is smooth and flowing and never seems tedious. The "serial's" story- solutions eventually are neatly "tied- up" and satisfying.
These producers are sophisticated enough to know that the viewer wants the best and they are willing to give us the best!

This is , in my opinion, the best viewing and best series of 2007-8-9 that has graced the TV screen and do
hope these genius people will continue, with their excellent intelligent programming!

After watching and falling in love with the most recent series on TV I decided to start from the beginning, so I bought this and watched all episodes in four days - ITS ADDICTIVE! Would definately recommend this to everyone.

Rating: - Prepare to be blown away

First off, WOW!

What a Show. If you watch this programme you will be addicted. The first season of Desperate Housewives revolves around the suicide of Mary Alice Young who takes on the role of the narrator. Immediately you are introduced to four perhaps five DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Gabriel Solice - Ex-model who has become fustrated with the life of marriage in suburbia and has an affair with gardener John Rowland.

Bree VandeKamp - The Perfect Parent/Wife? Bree's family life is unstable as is her marriage but you will come to love Bree, her loneliness, isolation and struggle with Rex, Andrew and Danielle

Susan Meyer - Divorced Single-Parent. She's got only her daughter until Mike Delfino moves in!

Lynette Scavo - Successful business woman turned housewife. 4 kids, three boys one girl, under the age of 8. Lynette's husband Tom is always away on business and Lynette struggle with the kids produces laughs and tears.

Warning if you buy season one you will have to have them all!! ..
