rubbish instructions

Rating: 2out of 5 - Ronald

Decent product (however on 2nd one as first died). Can be patchy in other rooms other than where router is located.
Really really poor instructions provided for people who are not gend up on on computer speak. Nice box though, pretty pictures, very colourful.
What's the story with the one touch setup button...hahahahahahahaahahahaahahahahaahahahahahah, very funny! free trial internet security not up to much, disk setup is very annoying

Waste of money

Rating: 1out of 5 - Carlos Ferreira

I've bought a modem and Wireless Router from Linksys and, currently, both devices are unplugged and inside a box. I managed to get both working for a while, although the connection was dropped every 60 minutes (go figure!). Recently, my ISP changed the modulation system and since then i wasn't able make them work and had to buy another modem from other brand. It's a complete waste of money. And God help you if need to contact the technical support!!

very very bad piece of equipment

i guess in my 10 years in computer technology this is i guess one of the bad invention linksys never invented its very hard to installed (linksys wrt54g)remember this model dont get fooled.

Verizon DSL Westell modem

Rating: 1out of 5 - Maurice Gebhardt

I experienced the same problems with Verizon's Westell modem until I read the model. It is a modem/router so don't connect it to a router. You don't need one. the Westell handles DHCP and provides all you need to operate a network. Just connect it to a multiport switch or if you want to go wireless, to an access point and you are good to go. It can handle up to 256 connections, just like any other router. If you have a router, just go in and turn off DHCP and use it as a network switch, but connect the modem to one of the network ports and NOT the modem port. It pays to read the label!

Verizon and WRT54G

Rating: 2out of 5 - Pissed Off

I have setup literally 100s of Routers on DSL and Cable Modems for friends and Co-workers. I have run into issues before but was always able to get them resolved. That is until I ran into setting up a WRT54G up with a Westell 6100 Modem (Verizon DSL). I have bridged the modem, cloned the Mac, changed the IP of the modem, powered it off and on multiple times and have never gotten it too connect. Its not the router, its the crappy modem from Verizon.
So save yourself alot of headaches if you have Verizon DSL with a Westell 6100 Modem and stay away from a router. Purchase the WAP54G Wireless Access Point instead, that Way you don't have to screw around with trying to get the modem to talk to the router

Frustrated with DSL

Rating: 1out of 5 - shoregal

I had Comcast and my beloved Linksys router working great. I just switched to DSL because the new house had its line for cable cut and I can't get the freaking router to work with the stupid freaking DSL. I hate DSL. I spent 45 minutes with the idiot from india for verizon who didn't even understand that I wanted to get the router working with that horriz little Westell modem. I think it is the modem.

Works great w/cable, not working yet w/DSL

Rating: 4out of 5 - Jetteski

I've had my wrt54g v2. for at least 3 years and it has worked just FAB w/Comcast cable. That is until I switched to Verizon DSL. Now I just can't get it to work. I haven't called customer supposrt yet, but I have tried everything on the site so far. UGH!

Verizon and Routers and IPs

Rating: 5out of 5 - SOHO

I've never had a problem with the Linksys router and I've installed over 100 of them. If you are adding a router, Linksys or otherwise to your Verizon DSL, and cannot get an IP for the router, chances are you have to clone the MAC Address of the last device the DSL modem was connected to. If it was your computer, clone your computer's MAC addy in the router. If it was a different router, get its MAC addy and clone it to your new router. To get your PC's MAC addy, Start, RUN, CMD, type ipconfig /all and press Enter. If it is a router that you are replacing, check the bottom as its MAC addy is probably there.

poor

Rating: 1out of 5 - Matt C

works fine if you don't need to secure your
wireless connection with a password then the
problems start. Could be because I have a mac
and the set up disk that came with this does not
function? Spent hours on the phone with tech
support only to have them come up with no
clues as to why this thingdoesnt work!

Rating: 5 of out 5 - easy to update firmware, works well with emule and torrent

doddle to install, updated firmware to lates version of dd-wrt, enabled ports for emule and utorrent and it has worked! lol, 4th router ive tried to get filesharing working on, this ones definitly a keeper

Rating: 3 of out 5 - Ok once it gets going.

I purchased this with a Linksys by Cisco WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapter.
It took a long time to get a decent signal, but it works well now it's going.
Not impressed.

Rating: 4 of out 5 - Two pin plug

Contacted supplier:
Just installed the WRT54GL router. Why does the juice/transformer plug have 2 pins? It's susceptible to 'wobble' in adapter and loss of
connection.
Reply:
This is the UK version of this model. Purchasing have told me that this
is how Linksys make them. If you do not want this product, you can
return to the freepost address below for a full refund.
Me:
UK version with two pins??? Wouldn't it have been better to offer swap of juice/transformer plug rather than return for refund? After all, it is being used now and I don't want the hassle of not having it whilst I get what I really want.

Rating: 1 of out 5 - Awful

I am a typical power user, running an RSS reader, iTunes, FTP and IM all at once. In my house we have 2 laptops, a desktop PC, an Xbox 360, a Wii and a DS all connecting to this access point, it worked fine for about a week but when using any sort of program with heavy connection usage (like an FTP program or P2P application) it dies due to a fault which Linksys has fixed with an update to every one of their routers EXCEPT this one.

Occasionally, it also decides to not let new any devices connect that aren't already connected. So my Mac, the desktop and my 360 could all connect but my dad's laptop couldn't. Changing the mode of encryption managed to fix this, though I do not know why.

Avoid at all costs, very, very, terrible.

(I'm on the Virgin Media 10 meg download package, ex NTL user)

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Great router

I bought it a few months ago and it has been working perfectly fine for me. My earlier router was a Netgear and it used to drop the connection at random intervals. There is no such issue with this one, though. Setup is very easy too. Definitely value for money!
