Rating: 5 of out 5 - Small, Multi fuctional, and a cut above the rest

I previously owned a philips KEY005, which i thought suited my needs very well until the remote failed and hence could not do any thing with it, so i returned it for repair but they sent me my money back, and i went on the search for another mp3 player. I stayed away from the earlier creative mp3 usb key products due to the fact that they used AAA batteries and i didnt want to invest in an i-pod or anything due the fact that i dont have 20 GB of music, hell i dont even have 1GB of music, so 256 MB suited me although i was close to buying the 512 model. This was one of the few products that had a rechargble li-ion battery, and i knew that this would cut down on its size considerably, and when the product arrived i was not dissapointed. Its only as thin as it need to be ie the headphone jack. The packaging was a bit fiddly to get the product, if i ever need to return it it will have to be sellotaped up! So i charged it up and plugged into my PC. I use Windows Media Player 10 so it automatically syncs my device which i set up while awaiting delivery, the muvo slim uses USB 2.0 which was extremely fast when compared to my KEY005. Then i plugged in the headphones and pressed the play button. The headphones were suprisingly of good quality and were quite comfortable, and the sound was rich and clear. Then i fiddled with some of the functions eg voice recorder, FM radio, radio recorder and they all worked fine, infact the radio had very good reception, but i wasnt going to be using those functions much any way but its always good to know its there. The case that came with the product is actually very good, and when inside the case the player is as big as an i-pod mini. Some other features that this player included was an equaliser, which was suprising. Another thing that suprised me was that you could search through a track if you help the skip wheel in place. Also there is an extensive list of play modes eg shuffle track, shuffle folder, shuffle once, repeat track, repeat folder and most unsusually A-B repeat, if you want to listen to one section of a track over and over again. In the settings you can change anything from the language to after how long the back light turns off. I knew I had made the right chioce in player and i would be very happy with this.

Though there are a few niggles about it though. Navigating through tracks consisted of going through each one in order, much like my philips but usually i put the mode on shuffle. This is a firmware updatable product so this could be fixed, fingers crossed. Also, to charge the product you plug it into the PC. This isnt a problem, but if you were away from a PC from a long time there is now way of charging it. With my philips they included a auxillary battery adaptor which supplied another 10hrs of playback through an AAA battery. I was dissapointed that creative have not thought of this as it is a portable player, but with 17 hrs of playback you should have enough juice for a while anyway. Also they could have included a wired remote so i dont need to keep on taking it out of my pocket if i did not want to hear a particular song.

But despite all that i think that this is an excellent mp3 player and that anyone considering buying this should get one and they will be pleasantly suprised by it.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Not just for Spies

I bought this player because I am an International Spy and I like to keep things as discreet as possible when I am 'on the job'. It fits snugly into my trouser pocket or the breast pocket of my tux when things get a little more formal.

In my job I am always making mental observations and the built-in mic is an absolute life saver. A subject recently gave me the slip after I tailed him in my Lexus for 25 mins, but thanks to my 'Slim' I was able to record his number plate and other important details. When I got back to base and played back my memo it really helped me piece things together.

Radio reception is surprisingly good also, in fact so good that I was able to pick up a coded message (return to base) on BBC World Service while camped out in a river basin 60 miles outside Tripoli last week.

Another feature I like is the fact that this baby charges from USB. I travel all over the world and I'm always forgetting which country uses which plug socket - with the USB charge I don't need to give this a second thought.

If I had one complaint about my Slim, it would be that its just not slim enough. When I read the in reviews that it was credit card size, I thought "Great, I can use it to pick locks" - but sadly the thing is just too fat for picking.

Anyway, that sums up my review. I give the Slim 5/5.

Rating: 3 of out 5 - How long will it last?

I know nothing about these players but purchased this one on its description and other peoples views. It is very easy to load, extremely small and the reproduction is very good.
Unfortunately mine had a fault in playback. Obviously I'm biased, but fault aside, I find the operational buttons too multi functional and fiddly. Having said all that it's an amazing piece of kit giving tremendous scope - gone are the days of the Walkman!

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Style

I have had this for about a week now, and I have to say I love it. The only problem is the price.
I already owned a Rio Karma, which is great, but felt like I wanted something more sleek, stylish, and useable for exercise, and this is perfect.
The 256Mb memory is enough for enough tunes to get you through at least the battery life, which has not run out on mine yet, after around 10 hours use.
It is simple to use, and the controls being along the top of the player is perfect for accessability, esspecially in the v.sexy case.
TO give a rough idea of just how small it is, it is roughly the same size as a credit card, and just the depth of a headphone socket deep.It also weighs roughly the same as a passport, just 30g.
I would definatly recomend this for anyone who wants a stylish player, and has the money to spend. If the money is a problem, previous models could do a pretty good job, but wont look, or feel as good.

p.s - the only flaw is that the F.M radio has an extreamly poor reception where I live, in the hilly countryside, but might work better in city areas.

Rating: 4 of out 5 - Not by any means bad

This is close to being the ideal mp3 player, it looks and feels well made and the integral re-chargeable battery makes this a cut above those units that require AAA batteries.
I like the USB charging system; I've read those reviews that bemoan the lack of an external charger but what's the problem with just using a cheap USB hub?
Loading music onto the MuVo is a simple 'drag and drop' and the quality of the WMA encoded playback is outstanding, much better than I had hoped for.
The only flaw with the MuVo that I can see is navigating through the stored music. Essentially the menu is a simplistic backwards-forwards system, so you have to shift your ways through all of the tracks in between, which is time consuming.
The case is sleek and well made, but I would have liked a clip on it to make it easier to go running with.
These are minor faults but stop me giving the MuVo 5 stars.
