Rating: - A Great Wee Camera

I love my Cybershot. It's the second I've owned. I rarely use my Canon D-SLR these days because the Cybershot is so small and handy yet captures day-to-day images with ease and the quality is far greater than I need for posting on the 'net. I keep it in a leather pouch that also has room for a box of four Energizer rechargeable batteries. I rarely have to use a second set of batteries anyway. It takes video footage as well, up to ten minutes at a time. I keep a 2GB memory card in there and a spare 1GB with the spare batteries. The whole lot goes in my handbag no problem. I've never had such an enjoyable and value-for-money gadget.

Rating: - Unfortunate purchase

Bought this camera for my daughter while she was living in London; she never used it and soon after arriving home exchanged it for my wife's (much older) Olympus. After using it for about five months (light usage) it stopped working. Initially I thought the problem was merely that it suddenly failed to recognize the computer when I was attempting to download photos (in which case, I would gladly have spent three pounds for a card reader); but it burns through batteries at an absurd speed--one photo, one pair of AA's.

I'd say the electrical system is ruined.

Sony tech support was unsatisfactory; I suppose for a camera this inexpensive, it's understandable.

Takes a lot of juice, a bit bulky but quality is good and very sturdy. Good buy but I think better versions are available.

I purchased this camera for my daughter (she is in her 20's) so I am sure that she can use the camera as well as anyone.
Personally I am not a fan of Sony digital still cameras, however other Sony products I do rate very highly. Unfortunately this camera, besides eating batteries, it also does its own thing in that it may or may not decide to power up.
Sony technical have provided all manner of advice but to no avail.
