- Great value for money and good performer
So far so good. There is a good quality feel to the package. Keyboard has good feel with well spaced keys for such a small device. It is slightly bigger than the original EEE PC. The only slightly negative points are that:
1) Try as I might, I couldn't get the battery to last more than 6 hours, but I suppose that is with the Wifi on and using it fairly constantly, on average brightness. I guess to get it to last the claimed 8.5 hours, you will probably have to dim the screen a lot more and turn off the Wifi.
2) The cursor keys are strangely shaped and I kept hitting the wrong key.
3) The dimpled trackpad area doesn't feel well designed and isn't as responsive as other laptops I have had.
4) The trackpad button is a rocker type affair for left and right clicks and takes a little more pressure to activate than I would like.
But that said, it is a great little laptop with a great battery life. I will probably be buying a couple for the rest of the family.

Just bought the above product from Amazon as a less bulky alternative to my IBM Thinkpad Laptop, and to say I'm pleased with the product perfomance is an understatement !! The bootup and shut down times are excellent, screen is bright and clear and the mouse control pad, although different was quite easy to get on with, and a good keyboard and the battery life is excellent - all this at such a low price, can't be bad. I would highly recommend this product to anybody in the market for quality netbook this or any of the other ASUS variations, would diffinately get my recommendation.

This little netbook does exactly what it says on the tin. It's easy to use straight out of the box... just turn it on and answer a few questions. I had it up and running, connected to the web in about 10 minutes. Easy.
It is consistently giving me better than eight hours battery life when used for a mixture of browsing and lightweight word processing and has a keyboard that is actually usable, rather better in fact than the one on the far more expensive Dell Laptop I use for work.
The screen is surprisingly good, even in bright sunlight. I do find the limited resolution a bit of a nuisance but it is just the price I have to accept for the portability, low weight and small size.
Removing Microsoft Works (useless since it is not fully compatible with Office) and the trial version of Office (which was quickly and easily replaced with Open Office - free, easy to use and no problems to date with any Office documents) took just a few minutes.
All my various peripherals that I use with my desktop machine (Printer, camera, PDA, dive computer, mp3 player etc) set up quickly and easily.
I added a neoprene sleeve to protect it while travelling and if I have any regrets at all it is that I did not buy it sooner. Lovely piece of kit, perfect for the job I wanted it for. Now all I have to do is find some more cash to buy another one for my wife since she seems top have decided to adopt this one.

I bought this netbook a month ago and I have been very pleased with it performance. The battery life is fantastic and really does last eight hours. It boots up quickly and goes on line very fast. It is a little odd getting used to XP again and I do wonder if Windows 7 might have been a better operating system? You get used to the keyboard quickly. I used it on a flight from Spain last week and and watched an episode of House without a problem, although scenes with very little light were hard to see. I mainly use Asus when I am away or at meeting and it is a winner and at the price very good value.

This is my first netbook. I was very impressed with the build quality, overall design and battery life. When I discovered subsequently that the Head of IT at work had purchased the same model having tried out three others I knew that I'd made a wise choice.
