I bought this at the same time as NTL Broadband, and a new Sony laptop [with wifi], to set up distributed broadband internet and a network with an existing Dell desktop in the loft. I was not too confident about this. Everything arrived Friday.
NTL installed the broadband modem [in the loft] and I set it up to the desktop and tested it - okay. Next I installed Linksys Router [in the loft] wired between NTL modem and desktop. Tested it, and it worked straightaway. Confidence increased. Switched on laptop, found the Linksys Router [by product name!] and the internet worked straightaway. Confidence all time high.
Linksys Router wifi range is impressive! 5 grades of signal strength. I get "excellent" anywhere in the house, and "very good" anywhere in the garden. My loft has a ring main and extensive lighting, telephone / fax wires, and two digital telephone systems. The router sits 6 inches from the PC and sandwiched between the printer and scanner. How it gets through that lot beats me.
What I learnt was that you [and only you] can "see" the Router's settings [and change them] by typing in its IP address in windows explorer address line. It took some time for it to sink in that I was not looking at some special website in the www, but at my very own Linksys Router, some 6 inches away. [So, ... some of us are a bit slow]
Lessons - the laptop picked up another Linksys router in the neighbourhood. It was shown as "unsecured" so in theory I could have used someone else's router and broadband service. Advice - follow the instructions; set the kit up as "vanilla" first; then enable ALL security options [password, name, hide etc.]
A cracking piece of equipment. Unreservedly recommend it. Excellent Amazon service and price as usual.

With this being my first ever wireless setup i can say linksys made it easy peasy. All i had to do was pop in the cd which is given and away i go. First i was told to connect my modem to the router then i was asked if i wanted to install a wired network...which i did. Next i went upstairs and searched for the wireless router off my wifi laptop. all was installed so quickly. an absoloute buy and and at a very good price for such a big company name!
Rating: - Works with Mac OSX no problem
Was unsure wether this would work with my iMac G5 as the literature made no mention of Mac, but I took a gambe anyway. Simply plugged my Cable modem into the back of it and my Mac started working straight away (Mac still uses a wire to connect to router though) However the PC we have with a Belkin PCI wireless card is completely wireless and found the wireless network straight away.

Brought this to use with my NTL cable modem. Plugged the ethernet cable into the router and then the other end into the cable modem. Laptop found the router straight away and was surfing the net after changing a few settings. One thing I would say is that you need to make the wireless connection secure!! Otherwise anyone could steal your boardband connection. It would be very easy to get my neighbours as it is unsecure. Apart from that its a great device. Getting a very good signal in the room at the other end of the house to the router!! Buy it!! Quick delivery from Amazon

This is great. I bought this and the USB receiver. I expected it to take a couple of hours to get everything set up and working (like most hardware).
But it took about 5 minutes. Plugged them both in, turned them and installed the software then rebooted, and that was it. Broadband.
Lovely. And very well priced, too.
