- Philips Wireless TV Link is Buy of the Year
This has to be the buy of the year!
I have always wanted Sky TV in my bedroom but I didn't fancy the prospect of having another sky box installed with endless wires and holes in walls (especially after the mess the last Sky installation person made). You also need to have your second sky box connected to your phone line for at least a year which means more wires and connections......no thank you.
Bought the philips TV wireless link from Amazon (saving £40 on the price in Currys) and it arrived two days later. I also bought a new silver flat screen toshiba portable TV for the bedroom as my old TV didn't have a scart connection (which you need to have to connect the TV to the receiver unit).
The wireless TV link transmitter and receiver boxes are silver in color and look very stylish next to silver TVs.
I placed the transmitter unit vertically next to my downstairs TV and connected them together via the supplied scart connection. I then plugged in the scart leads from my DVD, video and Sky boxes directly into the transmitter unit whilst also leaving one scart connection running directly between my Sky box and video. I then put the video recorder onto the AUX channel and plugged in the power lead for the transmitter unit.
Upstairs, I connected the receiver unit to the new TV via the supplied scart lead and plugged in the power connection (I had to buy a 2 plug extension cable as I only previously needed one power socket for the TV).
Then I turned on the transmitter unit, receiver unit, both TVs, the sky box and video recorder and it worked straight away.
I can now watch Sky TV, DVDs and Videos in my bedroom with no wires and the picture and sound are absolutely amazing. The other good thing is that the supplied aerial on my new portable TV doesn't give great quality for terrestrial TV, but I can now watch BBC, ITV and C4 via Sky in perfect quality. Finally, you can also use the Sky remote control upstairs to change channels and go interactive even though the Sky box is downstairs.

- Phillips video sender
Same product in another store for £130 saved big time on Amazon.
plug in all your equipment plenty of scart sockets on rear of unit.Takes a while to set up though, your video, dvd,tv,sky all are different makes so you need to programme the remote control, this took me a hour or so to figure out.Luckily there is an auto search feature but all codes are included in the booklet so no worries really.(unless you have a betamax video still!)
Overall a good buy picture quality is good.

- This is basically of no use what so ever
1 TV in the lounge, 1 TV upstairs 25ft away, picture quality OK, sound appalling. Change scart cables for expensives ones from my surround systems no change. Change between all 4 channels on the box, no change.
Run round the house switching off all radio equipment, hifi, wifi and telephones, no change
Have an idea, see how close the boxes need to be to get decent no hissing or crackling sound. So carry TV downstairs, hook up. Eventually had the boxes 20cm away from each other and the sound was appalling.
Drastic action. Bought 50cm drill bit, drilled through wall, ran cable out of wall in living room into upstairs and plugged directly into TV, perfect picture, perfect sound, cost £20
I will be returning this pile of junk to Amazon for a refund

- Brilliant reception without wires
Bought this product about two months ago and have been happily watching my second TV in the kitchen since - and way better reception that what my portable aerial gave me. And as a bonus I can now watch my DVD, VCR and satellite on the TV also without running wires all over the house.
The two boxes are very stylish and will fit well on your TV stand especially if you've got a silver TV or equipment. Had the transmitter and receiver install and running in under an hour (without reading the instructions) so it easy to setup. Had a bit of trouble with the reception when I set it up but removing the control blaster cord (IR remote signal cord that attaches to the back of the transmitter) fixed this. I think this is only needed if you have a poor signal.
The great thing is you can control all your equipment on your second TV using the supplied remote. You just program in a number for the make and model of you TV/DVD/VCR/Satellite and presto it now works from your second TV. I have my VCR and SKY (pace) box working fine using the remote. Couldn't get the remote to control my (cheap) PowerPoint DVD but I'm looking to get a new DVD home cinema system later this year, so that should solve that. Using the remote and navigating the SKY menu you have to hold the Reception and sound is excellent. I'm only using it on a portable TV and currently I would not be able to tell the difference if I plugged it into the wired signal. The main TV with transmitter is in the sitting room and the receiver with the second TV is in the kitchen (about 40 foot away, through 2 walls). Also using my mobile or wireless landline phone causes no interference with signal or sound. The only time it effects the signal is when I turn on the microwave (or even when my next door neighbour turns on theirs) it causes lines on the signal and the audio deteriorates badly. But then again how long do you use your microwave during the day - no too long. Also if your short on SCART sockets on you main TV (I've only 2 along with most people), then this product will allow you to plug 4 SCART leads into 1 on you TV. P.S. Got a free James Bond DVD with mine so do a search on this when ordering. Bought this to avoid the hassles of wires and generally I am impressed with the product although there are two problems 1/ When I walk in between the receiver and transmitter the picture and sound suffer significant interference (picture turns black and white, wavy and hissing noise occurs) 2/ Remote control seems to randomly forget the code so I have to re-program it...didnt have the code for Thompson sky box in the booklet so i have to manually "tune" in the code each time
Overall a great product and would definitely recommend it.Rating:
