Rating: - Good when working but broke to soon

I had this player for 16 months and it worked fine.
After 16 months it suddenly died on me and nothing helped. I had to get it replaced and pay for that service.
When you spend so much money on these things you expect them to last a good few years and not a bit over a year.
Also, the touch navigation pad is really over sensitive and it is very hard to use it. The headphones supplied are very bad, bad sound and don't feet your ear.
I would reccomend you look at other products and don't buy this one.
There are better players with bigger storage capacity and better fitures then this old device.

Rating: - Buy this at your peril

I purchased this product, in late November 05. as a xmas present for my son, 4 days after xmas 06, it breaks down, a loud scratching noise aftera minute of play, this machine lasted just over the 12 months guarantee, unfortunate maybe, we contacted Amazon, their reply, take it up with Creative.Their reply sorry outside guarantee, all they can do is a reconditioned replacement at nearly £[...], with a six month guarantee, great we write off all our down loads, the original expenditure and pay more money for another machine of dubious origin, good customer service?, I think not,BUY THIS COMPANIES PRODUCT AND GET ZERO AFTER SALES BACK UP, YOU MIGHT AS WELL BUY A CHEAP RIP OFF, SAME EFFECT, WHEN IT CEASES TO FUNCTION THE SELLER COULD NOT CARE LESS. This machine may have only have a simple fault, easy to rectify, but as they do not even ask for the machine back to investigate, the product will continue to be riddled with inherrent faults and lots of disappointed customers, so if you want to be a sucker and throw your money away, buy a Zen.

Rating: - Dont buy- i loved mine (to death!)

I bought my zen over a year ago. it was really good at first, easy to use and load, but then after a few weeks it started crashing and skipping songs- now finally it has packed in for good (just as my warranty has ran out!)
I love the software and have heard only good things about the new zen vision 30gb, so its worth investing in this cheaper and better kitted out model rather then the fragile zen 20gb!

Rating: - Getting worse

I have had my Zen for nearly a year and have always been quite happy with it (except for the terrible battery life and the fact that it drains even when not in use...) however, just lately it has started 'crashing' on me. It's usually when i try to skip on to the next song. I can't do anything with it until the battery dies and i can recharge it. Has anyone tried to send one back? Successful or not?

Rating: - first 13 months amazing last 2 hours another story

Right, well I've had this mp3 player for just over a year now, chose it over having an ipod as I wanted something different. I read the reviews saw the great reviews i just wish I read further down the page.

Like the title says first 13 months were great had no real problems other then it freezing once in a blue moon, all my songs went on extremely quickly and without a fuss. Yes the battery is rubbish can get about 6.5hours out of it same journey i take on the train.

I've now encountered the same problem as Oliver Oliver, freezing, strange buzzing noises. I've done a scan disk, rebooted seemed to work fine for 10mins then has crashed once again! Contacted creative hopefully the situation will be solved.

BUT the question is why do electronics always go wrong just after 12months??

Would i buy another Zen, erm i think i would you know, just hope creative have fixed the problem of this generation Zen...
