- MAJORLY OVER-HYPEDThis is an ok game, but thats it! its ok and nothing more!
Its just a first person shooter like any other.
graphics: very good
gameplay: point and shoot things, have to think before you move else you'll be riddled with bullets, a little too irritating for my liking.
overall its alright, nothing special about it aside the fact that it looks fancy, the main problem I have with it is the way people hype it up to make it sound like its the best thing the world has ever seen, and frankly that makes me not want to play it as it doesnt live up to the expectation you have of it since everyone sings its praises.
I've probably put 1 or 2 hours of gameplay into this, and since then its just bin sat on my shelf as I just can't be bothered to pick it up and play it, which makes it a failure in many ways.
my advice? wait till the price drops to something around the £10 mark, and then go ahead and get it, till then a wide berth is advised as its not worth more than £20Rating:
- Where do I find a StG44?War isn't as cool as it used to be.
Jokes aside, the Modern Warfare series certainly has lusher graphics and slicker options (too lush and too slick for my computer though... 4GBs of RAM and next-gen processor and yet it runs smoothly only on rock-bottom settings :P ), but it lacks a certain flavour.
For a start, the story is fictional (and thank goodness for that!). Previous instalments of the CoD series were based on the most famous battles of WW2 making missions way more intuitive. Here, on the other hand, the only way you have to do the right thing is keeping an eye on your squad leader and go where he's going. It's not that bad, it's simply not as exciting as storming the bunkers at Pointe du Hoc.
The real letdown, in my opinion, comes from the weapons. You can only carry 2 weapons as usual. However, while the WW2 weapons were pretty straightforward to understand (rifle - aim at single targets, submachine gun - close encounters, automatic rifle - charging towards the enemy firing from the hip, and so on), the sheer abundance of weapons in the game makes it very difficult to understand which is the best weapon for each situation. You'll find strewn on the ground hordes of abandoned AKs, G-36s, MP-5s, Dragunov sniper rifles, and all you can do is wonder "will they be better than the M-16 I'm carrying now?" because you're too much in a hurry to try each weapon. Another point against trading weapons (as you did all the time in WW2 CoDs) is the overwhelming abundance of starting ammunition for you standard issue weapons. I think in some missions you have 800 (!!!!!) rounds to start with. Thompsons and Stens were cool in WW2, but you'd find very few clips for them during the missions (generally by looting friendly corpses), so you had to switch to some other weapon at some point. Here you simply don't have to, so you don't have much of an encouragement either.
The missions are fun and varied, at a certain point you get to control a C-130 gunship which is WAAAAAAY hotter than machine-gunning "bandits" from a B-17. There are lots of references to films (mmmmhhh... get a wounded helicopter pilot out of the wreckage while being chased by a horde of local guerrillas... where have I seen that before?) and the soundtrack is just great. All in all a good game, but the WW2 ones were simply better.Rating:
- A Great Game. This game is very much fun!
I play it 3 weeks now, and I am still not bored!
The single player is pretty long, when you compare it with Call of duty: modern warfare 2.
And the multiplayer is endless fun.
It is very little money for such a fantastic game!Rating:
- Best game yetI have been a fan of call of duty games for a long time and this I think is the best yet, not too far fetched and very realistic.
It is much much better than the previous titles.
The graphics are superb and the storyline is quite entertaining.
I am really looking forward to the next game in this series.Rating:
