- Defective design
When I was a child my parents had a Swann Kettle that was used all the time and put up with years of abuse. This kettle is not like that at all! Despite only careful and moderate use it began to leak from the bottom - careful inspection showed that the plastic liner had cracked at the point where it was joined to the base. As others have said, this seems to be a flawed design, which puts style before performance.

- functionly good kettle but has problems
In reality this kettle is great it boils quickly, looks great so what more could you ask for from a kettle, well one thing would be reliability. This kettle does not pour well at all and after a whilst it started leaking. I had it replaced but my new one did the same after a few months. If you want a good looking kettle then but this but if you just want functionality i am certain there are better kettles out there.

Unreliable. Looks great but that's all - apart from heafty price tag.
Rating:
- Unreliable
After less than a year of use, the kettle has stopped working completely. I see from other reviews that reliability is a fairly common problem, therefore this kettle seems to be all looks and no substance. Avoid.

Purchased the above kettle. Had it several months now no problems. Functions great (i.e. Boils water!). One nice feature is that the heating element is not situated in the water chamber thus it isn't directly affected by limescale build up which is what murdered our last kettle.
Yes; it remains cool to the touch on the outside- though in fairness I always found it best to pick up the last kettle by the handle provided so I shall continue to do so.
That said; if you are given to letting your children play with your kettle (Durr!) Then then they won't burn themselves -though I'd be rather worried about them not burning their hands, which might warn them off before pouring the scalding contents over their heads.
Expensive for something that boils water but heh! Looks nice and you can say "I've got a Porsche".
(P.S. I'm not a kitchen and home fan- Amazon slotted that in - Don't like kitchens and have to have somewhere to live!)
