I'm afraid I was very dissapointed with this box set...
It's a beautifully produced item, and a lovely piece of packaging. But unfortunately I find it to be plenty of flash but no great substance.
Chris is a very good guitarist and no mean singer, but he sure ain't a blues man...
Chris is trying too hard to cover all the genres of the blues, and something doesn't QUITE work...
Having said that, as a blues club promoter I'm probably a bit TOO purist, so if you enjoy it- happy days!
I'm sorry to say it won't find a lot of time in my cd player... Looks good on the shelf though!

Rating: - great music by a very talented musician
Was really impressed with this work from Chris Rea. Have been listening to his music since my early teens. To be honest initially i had my doubts about Rea changing direction from rock to blues but was pleasantly surprised at his insight into the history and evolution of blues and its different styles. All 11 CDs are brilliantly thought out and executed and Rea's guitar playing is top notch as ever. My personal favourites are Country blues, Electric Memphis blues, Texas Blues and Gospel and Motown blues. His paintings portray the moods and emotions of different styles brilliantly. In all i would whole heartedly recommend this work to any fan of the Blues and Chris Rea for that matter.

I bought this set because I love blues music.After one listen I realised my mistake.I tried to "get into it " but the material is like Simon Cowells take on the blues.I gave the set away to a friend who is into Chris Rea.
If you are really a lover of blues music buy the real thing and ignore this self indulgent rubbish.

If you are a fan of Chris Rea you will love this collection. Have been playing it over and over. This is the man and the whole presentation is out of this world. Loved the different ways of having special music themes by putting them together on separate CDs. Great having the book and DVD as a bonus too. Arrived so quickly that this also was a pleasant surprise. This really is the whole deal.
