Editorial Review

Though they've suffered death, departure and fraught internal and external relationships, No Doubt have kept faith with fun throughout, as The Singles very clearly proves. As their troubles have made them far from prolific, it's culled almost entirely from three albums--Return of Saturn, Rock Steady and their mega-hit Tragic Kingdom--with just the quirky, warped ska of "Trapped in a Box" to represent their eponymously titled major label debut.

As said, it's excellent fun, from the opening power anthem "Just a Girl", through the ultra-modern, Madonna-like "Hey Baby" and the urgent, melodious power pop of "Excuse Me Mr" to the Chicago-style break-up ballad "Don't Speak". It's easy to see how this colourful band of Anaheim skanksters came to be seen as an energising antidote to the crushing male miserabilism of grunge. There are a few extras; a reverent cover of Talk Talk's "It's My Life", a dance-metal "Hey Baby" remix and a live repeat of the cute, Leonard Cohen-quoting "Underneath It All", featuring Gwen Stefani's vocal and a simple acoustic guitar. But, naturally, it's the hits that count and they're all here, every bouncing, beaming one of them. It's a fine testament to one of America's most enduring pop acts. --Dominic Wills

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Great Music - Great collection

A lovely and very varied collection of No Doubts music. Definitely one for the car!

Rating: 5 of out 5 - No Doubt about it - this is good!

I have to admit that I didn't recognise any of these when I looked at the track titles - apart from Don't Speak! However, when I listened to the album I found that I knew a lot of the tracks but just didn't link them with the group or song titles!

I would never have said that I was a No Doubt fan - something that has, however, changed since listening to this album. It is wonderful and gives a newcomer to or a real fan of the group's music the best of their tracks. Let's face it - the singles artists release into the charts are usually the pick of their work and this album is made up of No Doubt's single releases from 1992-2003. The album could easily have been called their greatest hits and leaves me in No Doubt that it is worth the money. After all you get over 10 years worth of great music on one album for Amazon's bargain basement price!

The only things in doubt if you don't purchase are your sanity and your taste in music :)

Rating: 5 of out 5 - WAOW- I love this, LOVE this! (Review by Sarah)

This is possibly my favourite album. I adore it! While I have my favourites I love every song on the album, there's about two I don't listen to as much as the rest.

I can't even list my favourites because I love this album so much! My least faves, but still good songs, would have to be "Ex Girlfriend", "Excuse me Mr" and "Trapped in a box". By the way, if you haven't heard other No Doubt stuff I'd really recommend you listen to "Platinum Blonde Life" although it isn't on this album.

Rating: 4 of out 5 - No Doubt {"it's tremendous fun..."}

Has all the essential No Doubt songs my favourites being:~

Spiderwebs
Trapped In A Box
Running
Just A Girl
Bathwater

A must for any No Doubt fans looking just to buy one album, this really show cases Gwen's ever enigmatic talents, like I said it's fun, I gave this four stars because I think it was sometimes too fun for my liking, and Don't Speak is the only really serious side to them portrayed on here I guess...

Still if you want to get into No Doubt, this is the one to buy...

Rating: 5 of out 5 - 5 STAR PLUS!

This is one of the best greatest hits albums ever! and No doubt is one of the greatest bands of all time as they have all different kinds of music. I like all kinds of music and that's why I like No doubt plus Gwen stefanis great voice. Every song is great on this album but heres what I think of them:

Just a Girl- A classic 1995 No Doubt song. Very catchy and their most popular except Don't Speak 9/10

It's my Life- No Doubts lateset song released in 2003. This song was very popular and has a great beat and great video too 9/10

Hey Baby- This is one of No Doubts pop songs with a special guest (bounty killer) One of No Doubts biggest songs 10/10

Bathwater- one of my favourite songs. Has a great beat and great lyrics. A CLASSIC 10/10 plus!

Sunday Morning- From the 1995 album 'Tragic kingdom' this song has reggae verses and a rockin' chorus 9.5/10

Hella good- a Truly brilliant dance song released in 2001. This song has the catchiest beat ever! and has been mixed great 9.7/10

New- Possibly the all time greatest No Doubt song. Released in 1999 for a film but appeared on the 2000 album 'Return of saturn' this song is catchy with great lyrics 10/10 plus

Underneath it all- This reggae song was a big hit world wide and is a great No Doubt song, Lady saw features 10/10

Excuse me Mr- This punk song is good but not the best No Doubt song. Still a great listen 8/10

Running- This slow classic starts off with a keyboard and slips slowly into guitar chords 9.6/10

Spiderwebs- This rock song is a lot better than excuse me Mr. It sounds better and the singing is better 10/10

Simple kind of life- one of the best No Doubt songs. The video is brilliant and the song as a whole is great 10/10 plus

Don't speak- a favourite among the ladies. This is a very sad love song a probably the most famous No Doubt song 9.5/10

Ex-Girlfriend- This song kind of repeats itself but it's still good, not the best 8/10

Trapped in a box- A very old No Doubt song (1992) This is the worst on the greates hits CD but it's not bad 7.5/10

Most of my favourite No Doubt songs are not on this CD as the greatest hits aren't always the best. Look out for songs like 'Making out', 'Detective', 'Comforting lie', 'Start the fire', 'magics in the makeup' as these are all 10/10 plus songs. Don't just listen to the greatest hits!
