Editorial Review
Destiny Fulfilled reunites the wayward solo members of R'n'B trio Destiny's Child, bringing Knowles, Rowland and Williams back together for another long overdue outing as the hyper-successful female group. While the R'n'B scene seems to have stagnated since they solo-ed out, the girls themselves were plenty busy, no more so than the ubiquitous global brand that is now Beyonce, now famously more dangerously in love with herself than anything else. This reunion can't have been easy, but things get off to a more than promising start with the harsh and immediate "Lose My Breath", which comes across as a battle cry to their contemporaries (watch out, Christina Milian) and a rousing call to arms to their legions of fans, which is continued by 'Soldier."
However, the album takes a different path at this point, opting for a sweeter contemporary sound that mimics their current peers. The vocals on these smoother, more sedate numbers stagger – aided by clean production, the harmonies interact with each other in a way that demonstrates the blissful chemistry between the girls, transcending all egos. The only letdown is "Cater 2 U", in which the girls muse about all the things they will do to please their men and continue to slush about the virtues of wearing his T-shirt in bed ("T-Shirt"). Are these really the same independent women that brought feminism to twelve year olds? Still, it seems they're growing up and calming down – which might be a good thing for the men of the world. --Ben Johncock

i totally agree with 'shop ireland reviews' that the vocals are tight they really did sing with their hearts. as always, bee was 100percent- her voice is so smooth and sexy and their voices go really well together. each song is about sumthin specific and has a 'purpose' which is rare in songs these days. its one of the girl's best albums yet. love them! xxx
It's so real!

Seriously i have to admit that Cater2U was sickening. Those were once the same independent women who gave inspiration to any girl or woman. Now the rest of the album fresh 2 deaf. Espeacially girl. Now see that was real its nothing better to see women that's got they girls back thick or thin. In that album u can see how thet've developed through time. It's like they meet a fly dude at the they holla in lose my breath, tell them what they lookin'4 in man 4 soldier, fall in love 4 c2u,have a good time in t-shirt,he start cheatin' they at it and soforth. That's life in a so called "committed" relationship(until he start cheatin'). That album as so real anybody could tell you that and i'm only 13. Now those vocals were tizight. I mean it as if they were really going through this stuff( which Kelly probably was). They sung like never before. They sung with they're hearts and souls with this album.Straight up nobody I mean nobody on earth could have ever sung with that much passion !Much love!
I loved it!

This album shows tremendous growth. All of the people who are hating on the 'Cater to You' song obviously don't know what it's like to be treated wonderful by a man and want to do good things for him in return. That's what the song is about......not just doing what a man wants you to. That's what the album in general is about. It's for grown folks people! These are women now and they want to be able to show that they have had some different experiances with men and just life in general. Grow up people!!!
Is this supposed to be Destiny's Child?

I really was dissapointed with this album. I have to say that people who loved "lose my breath" (like myself) aren't in for a treat. There isn't a single on the whole cd that made any sense! I agree with "MB" who wrote "Here's the deal" coz the trio have literly violated womens rights with "CATER 2 U" which is a sorry excuse for a single.
Even though I really love Beyonce Kelly and Michelle I didn't like this album!
Here's the deal.

I can barely believe that the song "Cater 2 U" came from the same people who sang "Independent Woman." It is a truly sad ballad that sets the women's rights movement back about 60 years. Just listen to the lyrics. I have lost respect for a group that seemed to grasp what it's like to be a woman.
That CD is all that!

I loooove Beyonce and the DC cd was soo good. I was not dissappointed at all. I can't wait for their concert. They really out done themselves now. I wish I could see them all face to face on day. I'll probaly faint, but that's ok. They are the only group right now that shows endurance and courage to be different. I've like them eversince their first song. Beyonce, Kelly and Michelle, if you all are looking at this, I would like to say THANK YOU for doing what you do. You all are an inspiration to me and my friends. We admire you all and respect ya'll. One day I will see ya'll and we can all become good friends.I looove shopping and clothes just like they do. People need to stop hating on ya'll because you all are fantastic.

For those who like Destiny's child will like this cd. Great harmonies and mellow sounds; nice on a Sunday morning or an evening when you're chilaxing.

- Glossy, occasionally entertaining, but far from fulfilling
If there's one thing you can say about Destiny's Child; they don't do half measures. This is an all-out slick, shiny, up-market effort for their 4th and final album, and If you're looking for tiresome R&B clichés exhausted to their limits, then you need look no further. Still, there's no doubting the abilities of Michelle, Kelly or that other one whose name I forget. No, Beyoncé is, of course, the star of the show and her expressive range and power is what sets her apart from the others- don't doubt it: most singers wouldn't stand out alongside Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, and it's also worth remembering that if you're looking for a group of stunning vocalists who are prone to moments of brilliance, then DC are your group. Once (or if) you can get past the lack of direction and prolonged spells of confused and meaningless songwriting that 'Destiny Fulfilled' throws at you, you've got a pretty enjoyable album on your hands.
The opener, 'Lose My Breath' runs the risk of getting the listeners hopes up and it's a better song than any of the catchy hits on the lauded pop-fest 'Survivor'. 'Soldier', momentarily resuscitated by Lil Wayne (not so much T.I.), is produced by Rich Harrison but certainly not reminiscent of any of his (formidable) body of memorable work ('1 Thing', 'Crazy in Love'). In fact, for a half-hour long extravaganza, it's incredible how little actually happens in 'Soldier', which is pleasantly minimal but devoid of variety and electronically lifeless.
If 'Soldier' hasn't induced a mild coma, by the time you get to 'Cater 2 U' you'll wish that it had done - this is a simply dire song and anyone with the misfortune/insomniac tendencies to stay awake during it has to endure Beyoncé singing about her devotion to pleasing her man - a bit of an inexplicable U-turn from the happier, empowering days of 'Bills, Bills, Bills', 'Nasty Girl', etc. 'T-Shirt' continues in the same vein, but somehow manages to be even worse. As I said, Destiny's Child don't go half way and they don't mess about with subtle sexual metaphors- in fact I don't think 'metaphors' come into the equation: think "give it to me deeper", "keep it right there, oooh" (genuine lyrical excerpts).
Fortunately, 9th Wonder, who has done good work with Erykah Badu and Jay-Z amongst others, saves the day and provides the soul-powered beat to the excellent 'Is She the Reason' (possibly the best song here) and to a lesser extent 'Girl' which (the clue is in the title) probably isn't really aimed at male listeners such as me, so I won't comment. 'Bad Habit' is dull, in a word, and produced by WyldCard (me neither). 'If' is instantly forgettable as well. 'Thorough with Love' is pretty simple and could be forgivable were it not for the gospel choir clichéing their way in towards the end, combined with the line about "finding a new love in God". The hypocrisy I mentioned in the themes of 'Cater 2 U' etc. is surpassed at the end of the album, where the song 'Love' immediately follows 'Through With Love'. The bizarre choice of putting 'Love' here on the album is the only reason it's worth mentioning.
'Free', at first glance could be lost under the overwhelming quantity of tedious ballads here, but it shouldn't as it is actually Destiny's Child's best and most accomplished ballad. OK, so that may sound a bit like saying "it's Arnie's most convincing acting performance", but this song nearly delivers on subtlety for once, and testament to its quality is that Beyoncé's twice repeated hook "No no no no, get up outta here" at the end is almost surplus to requirements, despite the fact it's memorable and catchy. Pop hooks are sparse on 'Destiny Fulfilled'; if you're looking for catchy songs, try an earlier album. But if you can get it cheap, this is just about worth the space in a CD rack, if only for a few of the songs. (And if you've got plenty of space for CDs).

- MEN Complaining about music geared towards the girls!!!
Not to be rude buy I notice that a lot of negative reviews about this album are coming from MEN. This is not a heavy metal album or hard rock it's R and B. Do you know what that means, obviously not and you need to look it up. It is also for the GIRLS, (feminism) so there is not going to be too much for you to like on this album as it does spend a lot of time letting us know what women have to go through with men!!!
Anyway I as a woman and a real fan of R and B mid tempo or fast really love this album!!!!!! I think you do need to be black to really get this type of music some of you might like to try it and if it's not for you then you always have Madonna!!!!!
