So long, tatty Warped Tour T-shirt, goodbye day-glo pedal pushers: Love Angel Music Baby, the debut solo album from No Doubt’s Gwen Stefani, finds this former ska-punk tomboy embracing ‘80s electro-pop, digital R&B, and the glamorous lifestyle of the international jetsetter. Laden with special guests (Andre 3000, Dr Dre, New Order), name-dropping the likes of Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano, and packed with guilt-free references to conspicuous consumption, tracks like "Luxurious"--a cut of velvety G-Funk that sees Gwen cooing "Champagne kisses/ Hold me in your lap of luxury"--may well be an instant turn-off to fans more familiar with Gwen’s punk-rock roots. Luckily, there’s some fine pop crossover moments here that should pretty much appeal across the board: "Hollaback Girl" finds Gwen riding a Neptunes beat that’s as minimal as anything in their oeuvre, spare boom-crash percussion and wisps of acoustic guitar undercut by floor-shaking bass whoomp, while "Rich Girl" featuring Eve, repaying the favour for 2002’s "Let Me Blow Your Mind", raids Fiddler On The Roof and comes out with a great pop hook. As an album, it’s not totally devoid of filler, but Love Angel Music Baby will break Gwen to a whole new fanbase, and deservedly so.--Louis Pattison

Rating: - why did i wait soi long to buy this?!?

i first wanted this album when it came out in 2004 and i was still in high-school i just thought gwens style was great and i loved the music too but for some reason i never got around to buying it :P
i finally bought it yesterday and listened to it this morning and its amazing!
catchy lyrics, a mix of modern and 80's style fun pop and a bit of R&B thrown in for good measure this is just a great album and im crazy to have waited so long so dont make the same mistake buy it now! :D

Rating: - singapore island now full, go to sea bed.

Despite Gwen's best effort this album sounds like a super tanker full of traumatized pigs being dragged over a black board.

in 2005 i treat myself by purchasing this album by Gwen Stefani...i discovered that L.A.M.B is just a great fun filled album that demands repeated listens.
No Doubt released some fantastic songs over their span in the music industry, Stefani with her looks and vocals decided to go solo in 2004 and released the catchy What U Waitin For? the album reflects this attitude with further tracks Rich Girls,Holloback Girl,Crash etc.
also this album boasts some fantastic producers which have collaborated with the fabulous Madonna on her previous works...Gwen benefits from this move which gives this album its edge.
all in all this album is a lot of fun but unfortunately with Sweet Escape Stefani couldn't quite master the iconic image created here and doesn't quite make it to the superstar status of superior artists Britney Spears,Christina Aguilera, Madonna,Lady Gaga,Cyndi Lauper and Nelly Furtado.
But,Gwen Stefani has made nothing but great songs for this album and if you ever feel down LAMB will certainly cheer you up and encapture you with its own fairytale style.
LAMB of course competed with several album on its release and ended up being one of the best albums from 2004 and so far has been a multi million hit worldwide...this wasn't followed up on the mediocre Sweet Escape.
buy LAMB for a great time and to add to your music collection.
while not entirely perfect it is great and fun,always fun.

I was really dissapointed with this album. I loved the first three songs (which is why i bought it) but the rest were just really annoying sort of nu rave badly written 80s pop
