Editorial Review
Jamiroquai are something of an enigma in the British music scene, being able to disappear for what seems like years, only to re-emerge with their distinctive sound intact and their hooks as catchy as they’ve ever been. Okay, so the line-up might change but it’s Jay Kay’s style and vision that keeps them at the top of their game.
There is little bad to say about Dynamite: lead single "Feels Just Like It Should" harks back to "Deeper Underground" with its electro fuzz and unmissable funk--a storming start to the album that sits at ease with the following title track, contemporary disco soul and very much the classic Jamiroquai sound. There are few risks taken on Dynamite: almost every song is something that they’ve tried before but the appeal has never been about groundbreaking ideas, just good, honest retro with enough modern-day edge to keep it current.
So, halfway through the rumoured ten-album deal and Jay Kay is still going strong--immune to criticism that his song vocabulary is limited, thankfully he remains true to his style and uncompromising in his pursuit of high quality pop music. --David Trueman

Timeless Funk Classic!

Being a relatively new Jay fan i can't really judge this in comparision with his older albums. From what I have heard it may not be his best outing but it's still a great album eventhough it seems about 2 years too late and very similar to A Funk Odyssey.
The best song on the album in my opinion is #3 Seven Days In Sunny June. It's got such a smooth flow. Buy the album for this alone cause it is simply one of the best summer tunes ever, so refreshing. Other tracks to look out for: #8 Don't Give Hate A Chance, #12 Time Won't Wait, #7 Talulah
A GREAT FUNKY ALBUM!!!

they can never beat the first two albums, but this one is much better than "a funk odyssey"
starchid, tallulah, seven days in sunny june,dynamite...are fantastic tunes, this kinda music you dont see theese days, when you have justin, britney and other shitty artists taking the music industry..the album is so refreshing and full of pure funk, only bad thing about it is the first single...well this truly is the return of the space cowboy!!buy it i promise, you will not regret it!!

Ok, 4 years have past since A funk odissey, and everyone's wondering "what the hell happened to jamiroquai?". 4 years is quite a long time to make an album, and i'm quite sure many people completely forgot about jamiroquai as they absolutely vanished from the map. But let me tell you, it was definately worth the wait. In my opinion, this album it's their best work since Travelling without moving, which was released almost 10 years ago, and despite Dynamite seems to continue with the vibe of their 2 previous releases, and the old school instruments -like the digeridoo- that made jamiroquai's music so great in the beggining are still lost, this album's groovie moods and catchy vibes make every single moment of it intresting. Except for "feels just like it should" -the weakest track of the album, i still can't get how it made it to be the first single-, the remaining 11 songs are among their finest compilations of tunes to date, and prove that jay's still in shape to make great songs.
So disappointing

As a long time fan from the 'emergency' days was really looking forward to latest opus. Heard "Feels Just Like It Should" and thought not their best but ok, read reviews on this site, so bought album. Can't believe these people giving 5 stars. In my opinion tracks 7,9 & 12 are worthy of praise, tracks 4,10 & 11 are poor, the just very average. NO real killer track. JK is still a dude but I expect better.
could very well break the north american market again

toronto canada here & unfortunately we don't get the album until autumn, what kinda issh is that? i'd think it's a good marketing move cuz we've had no promotion this side of the atlantic at all, what a shame. i got my cousin in the uk to send me a copy, this album is effing stellar!! in response to long time fans (like myself) not agreeing with the new sound, what new sound? it's called evolution. they've done a great job on this album w/ stepping up the production (which is key for getting to the younger audience) while keeping that trademark jamiroquai style. this album shows how the band (namely jay) has matured both personally & musically. "dynamite" proves to be as versatile as "travelling without moving" which i think will help get this album noticed here in n. america. this album reminds me a lot of "twm" which at 1st fans from the previous 2 albums weren't feeling cuz it was "different" from what they were used to. let's hope they see that success all over again. it's overdue.

I have been a fan for Jamiroquai for years since Emergency On Plannet Earth and as a musician and a bass player myself I am impressed with this album. The last 2 Albums I did not like alot becasue it had a commercial catchy songs which were borring, But the old school Jamiroquai is back in town to funk our world in space. But you know what be even better if Zender Played with them for this album that would be a bonus. But Good work Jamiroquai

Jason Kay has struck GOLD! I've been a fan only since the 3rd album, but hey forgive me; 'Travelling Without Moving' was the first album that I ever bought. I've reviewed concerts, I am an avid collector, and I suddenly found out that Japan was getting it 3 days before the UK. Hmmmm!
Obviously, I had to buy this album. I don't wish to spoil the album for anybody, but this opinion is from someone who has listened to every single track and bootleg ever made from this band, ad nauseum: They have evolved. Again. Jay's voice is still there (thank the gods), and I sense a very real vibrancy, about all aspects of the new album.
Admittedly, it's hard to say the second half is better than the first half of the album, but then again there is potential for several top 5 hits in the first block of the album. This is going to be a breakthough album for Jamiroquai, in the same way that Travelling was. Not revolutionary, but just impeccable timing. I look forward to future endeavours!!
Groove.

I have been a Jamiroquai fan for many years. I know they have altered their tunes from aicd-jazz to fusion/funk, but this album is brilliant. Seven Days In Sunny June is smooth acid-jazz, whereas Black Devil Car (my favourite) is funk rock to the maximum. The new single Feels Just Like It Should may not be the best, but it is a brilliant song with a great bass line. Electric Mistress is a funky out-of-space song where Jay is singing in a breathy voice, and it's quite a disco song. World That He Wants is a more mellow songs, a bit like Black Crow, with minimal music depending mainly on Jay's strong vocals. This album is fantastic after 4 years. I love Jamiroquai, and always will!
