- I hate swing anyway but...
I hate swing/big band/rat pack, but a work chum convinced me I'd like this due to it's quirkiness. I don't. It's just awful (well, not as awful anymore as it's now in 2 pieces - I buried the pieces seperately incase they somehow fused themselves together again,I just couldn't risk it). Awful, awful, awful.

The album is great. Some of the songs are even better in this version than the original way! Recomeneded
Rating: - Hit and miss but 100% cool
This is a true mixed bag of modern day 80's and 90's songs re recorded in a 50's swing style. Sinatra himself wouldn't have been out of place singing them.
Where this album fails is with the tracks which were originally done as ballads. So Hello and True are nice they don't have the same impact as they were already at about the right tempo to be done by a big band. If Mike Flowers Pop hadn't already done a swing type cover of Wonderwall it would have been fresh and fantastic but it just ends up suffering from the comparison.
However the real winners are the rock tracks that get the swing treatment. Jump is fantastic, The Eye of the Tiger is stunning, Eyes without a face is a revalation and Nirvana's 'Smell's like teen spirit' is the stand out track and is like Mack the Knife for the 21st century. Worth buying the album for this track alone.
This CD will appeal to anyone who is willing to be open minded and accept some classic songs sung in a different style.

- When in doubt........
If like myself, having read the reviews you are in doubt as to whether or not to buy this album, BUY IT! You will not be disappointed. Mr Anka's voice is excellent, the man is at the top of his profession. The arrangements are buy people at the top of their profession and played by some great musicians. If you like "Big Bands" this is a great album - doubt ye not, you will not be disappointed.

This a Brilliant CD. paul Anka does all track the justice they Deserve. Cant fault him. Very enjoyable listening
