Rating: - Happy memories of another time

It is sad to reflect that much of the wit and brilliance of the Flanders and Swan pieces might today be regarded as politically incorrect. However, the strength of their entertainment value is great enough for them to be an essential ingredient in anyone's library. I love dipping into this wonderful multi-album set.

Rating: - Timeless genius

Expensive, but worth every penny! The talent of Flanders and Swann borders on the miraculous. Wonderful to think I now own everything published by them.

I would have loved to keep this title but I could not play the CD'S on my player as no tracts could be found.Not even on my friends player would it work

To all the 5-star reviews, with which I thoroughly concur, I should like to add that the stereo recording of "At the Drop of a Hat", which is the one reissued here, was of a later performance than that of the mono LP (which contains the versions played repeatedly on such programmes as Children's Favourites). And although the material is nominally the same, there are little differences.

So if you have that old mono LP, don't throw it out quite yet!

... of buying three CDs of two men singing comic songs.

Don't be.

Flanders and Swann's "comic songs" are different from most. They have bite, wit, character, fire and - just below the surface - sometimes profound meaning. These are no "ordinary" comic songs.

Neither is Swann's accompaniment at the piano ordinary.

These are CDs that contain true gems. Buy them.
