Average rating - 4.5 out of 5

Rating: 4 of out 5 - Deutschland metal uber alles!!

Having bought this five years too late, I'm astounded by the brilliance of this album. While the guitar playing is fairly basic the song dynamics and trancey keyboards make this a unique dance/metal/thrash hybrid.Like Noir Desir in France they sing in their own toungue and are bristling with raw vision and passon. "Du Hast" is a dark brooding metal track while "Engel" is a sinister mix of angelic female voices and male angst. "Sehnsucht" is far better than their follow up LP "Mutter" and is one of the finest albums of the Nineties, easily the best German language album too!.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - JA JA JA

If you have the matrix soundtrack, you've heard their most popular song (Du Hast). If you're anything like me, it will have whetted your appetite for more. Buy this album and you won't be disappointed! The spectrum ranges from industrial mosh tunes with stunning riffs to tunes even your mutter would listen to (as long as she doesn't speak German) - they even do a Scorpion whistley bit, but they do it much, much better!

Buy this, then buy the rest of their albums, cos you WILL want more!

Rating: 5 of out 5 - buy this now,you wont regret it!!!

Working on a night shift, someone loned me this album to pass the time,I thank him for introducing me to one of the best bands i've ever heard!!!
A mix of techno sounds and crushing guitars, there are no fillers on this album, every track is a gem.
The vocals take a while to get used to,but after a couple of listens, you would not change them for the world!!
Rammstein are a Wagner for the modern world, listen to this album, and if it doesn't make you think of all those war newsfilms, nothing will.

One point though, don't read the translations of the lyrics, they may put you off for a bit.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Brutal as always

Some people say all Rammstein songs sound the same, well they're fools. Each album is so different, Herzeleid was brutal, Mutter slick and focused and Sehnsucht is a stepping stone between the two. It also contains Rammstein's most famous song which has featured on many soundtracks, it is of course 'du hast'. Anyway if your a Rammstein fan and own any other of their albums buy this one as well, you will not be disappointed.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Fandabulous German Industrial Round Disc Thingy Makes Noise.

And it's excellent at that. It's got everything. A funny looking idiot on the cover, weird lyrics, lots of amazing guitar riffs, and the scary, but cool voice of Till Lindemann.

It's got loads of shouty-along numbers, slow tunes and moshing songs. Buy it or do not hear excellent Germanness.
