- Breathtaking
Simply the best CD ever compiled - without doubt I’ll never buy another CD with superior music excellence. I received this CD as a Christmas present approximately 4 years ago and its just amazing. I listen to it more each day, unlike the vast majority of music which withers with time this CD just seems to hit the spot every time I listen to it, with truly glorious, touching music. Each track like the chapter of a book, intriguing and passionate. I really would encourage anyone and everyone to invest in this CD. Sends shivers down the spine.

- Should have been better
In the space of the last few months I have bought no less than 6 of the 7 albums from this period, and to be honest, this doesn't do any of them justice. I borrowed this album about a year ago or so ago, and it put me off investgating this time in U2's history further until recently. It's not that the songs on here are bad, they're just not that great. If all you want is a collection of their most successful stuff comercially, then this'll do. However, for the more varied, deeper tracks(IMHO) you have to hear the albums.
There are a few definate highlights, (which is why I give this 3 stars as opposed to 2) such as 'When Love Comes to town', 'New Years Day' and 'With or without you', but where is 'Bullet the Blue Sky', 'Like a song' or 'Gloria'? Where?? Plus, 'The Sweetest Thing', I suppose its quite a nice poppy song, but I can definately see why it started out as a 'B' side.
If you're a fan of guitar bands, then this probably will be found a little wanting as many of these tracks do not provide a good enough showcase for The Edges amazing guitaristic (is that even a word?) talents.
Another disappointment is the lack of a single live track, especially given that they did 1 and a bit live albums during this decade.(Under a Blood-Red Sky=1, Rattle and Hum=a bit). This is illustrated by the song 'Pride' this is in its studio-recorded form. Don't get me wrong, its a great song, but the delivery on this version lacks the edge (geddit?? Sorry, I apologise) in comparison to the 'Rattle and Hum' version. ('Tis a good album, puts this in the shade).
If you just want a summary of U2's 'hits', and I guess thats the purpose of a greatest hits then its not bad, but the title says 'Best of' and frankly, this isn't.

- Brilliant
Unlike the slightly disappointing 'Best of 1990-2000' album, this album delivers some of the finest U2 songs.
From the soft sound of 'With or Without You', to the louder beat of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday', this album is packed with U2 classics, and is undoubtedly their best compilation CD.
A great buy, highly recommended to all U2 fans.

- Total quality
This is without a doubt the best CD to emerge from the eighties. It is U2's finest compilation album and contains most of their greatest tracks. "With or without you", "Where the streets have no name", and "Pride" are examples of these wonderful art works.
