Rating: 5 of out 5 - The Cornell Masterpiece

As a big fan of Soundgarden I was crushed at the breakup of such an inspirational and highly talented band. However the Solo project by Chris Cornell's 'Euphoria Morning' is the album I hold dearest to my heart.
With a wide range of beautiful songs, fantastically worded lyrics, and experimental but very pleasing notes and tones reached by Cornell it is a special album that all owners feel is 'sacred' in there Cd collection. Though slightly more melodic than Soundgarden or his most recent band Audioslave, this album is a spine chiller. Look out for the track 'Steal rain'. Great track and a great amount of power in it.
There is no sound as pleasing on the ear as hearing Cornell make those incredible noises from his mouth. Sit in your room, lock the doors, turn up Cornell and just feel priveledged... Its all i can say

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Stand out record

What a shame I've only just discovered the delights of Chris Cornell. I'm completely unfamiliar with his work barring Black Hole Sun which I always liked, I don't know why he's passed me by until now, so much music so little time I suppose.
This is truly wonderful though and I'll be checking out other material in the future.
The musicianship is outstanding in every way and the songs are wonderful creations, I can't praise it enough.
It is a member of the exclusive club that is 'Exceptional records you can play forever'. A must buy, Cornell's vocals are quite simply perfection to your ears.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Chris Cornell's neglected solo debut from 1999...

It's surprising given Soundgarden's popularity and the commercial success of Audioslave's debut LP that Chris Cornell's debut solo LP was so overlooked. Like much of Mark Lanegan's solo career pre-QOTSA, it seems to be completely overlooked & like an LP such as Whiskey for the Holy Ghost it's too great to ignore! Following the failure of this record, Cornell was rumoured to have endured really bleak times- apart from personal problems, you must wonder why a perfectly fine record flopped so badly. Euphoria Morning saw Cornell hook up with members of Eleven (who have since worked with Mark Lanegan and QOTSA) and move away from the four-piece post-Sabbath onslaught of Soundgarden towards a more atmospheric/melodic realm. This is very much the sound suggested by Cornell's Singles-contribution Seasons, the Temple of the Dog LP, or mellower 'Garden songs like Black Hole Sun, The Day...Live, or Fell on Black Days. His rich vocals are to the fore, while the Eleven-members contribute drum-treatments and keyboards, exploiting the fact it's a Cornell solo LP and not a Soundgarden band-formula outing...

To be honest, I was never that much of a Soundgarden fan- like Kyuss I always thought they were a bit heavy metal for me when I heard them in Madchester-domintated 1990 for the first time (it is possible to change your mind...). The latter Soundgarden releases, where melody and songwriting seemed to be more important, were much more interesting than stuff like Ultramega OK. & I'm not that enamoured with Audioslave either- a few good singles does not make a classic album; this is the best thing Cornell has ever done and I do hope, despite it's failure, he returns to these climes again...

This is Cornell's melancholic masterpiece, an LP I picked up for just a few quid and one I often see in sales and wonder why people haven't snapped up! It sounds like a classic-break-up/breakdown LP and alongside the demise of Soundgarden, the death of friend Jeff Buckley (whose Sketches for My Sweetheart the Drunk Cornell was involved with)features, notably on the track Wave Goodbye. It's one of those albums I can play completely with no complaints- ironically it's probably not an LP I'd have purchased at full-price, so one of those records you buy cheap and discover an absolute chestnut. Highlights include single Can't Change Me (which features twice here- a French version acting as a circular-reprise), Follow My Way, Flutter Girl, Steel Rain & Disappearing One. Euphoria Morning is an LP much greater than the grunge(TM) tag that some probably attach to it- what Mark Lanegan's The Winding Sheet was for the beginning of the 1990s, Cornell's neglected solo debut is for the end of the 90s....

Rating: 5 of out 5 - one of the best singer/songwriters of all time

i just wish that chris cornell(who turns forty this year)would write more solo stuff as this album is phenomenal! check out'follow my way' 'moonchild' 'pillow of your bones and 'steel rain' not to mention 'when im down'which is very similar to temple of the dog.as a no.one fan of soundgarden and everything that chris has ever done, in this album he turns to his more softer side but still with amazing vocals, well worth a purchase!

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Beautiful

I immediately fell in love with this album and it is one of the best CDs i own! If you are a fan of Soundgarden and Audioslave then this may surprise you and not be to your liking. Although, in saying that, i am a fan of both Soundgarden and Audioslave and i love this album! Euphoria Morning is mellow and there isn't any songs that you could rock out or jump around to! Chris has been experimental with the music and i think the result is wonderful! Stand out tracks would be Preaching The End of the World, When I'm Down and Moonchild. If you can appreciate the album the way i do, then the songs will have a big effect on you. The lyrics are superior to any SG or Audioslave album in my opinion and if i could only describe this album in one word it would be 'beautiful'.
