Average rating - 4.0 out of 5

Rating: 2 of out 5 - Has some good songs

This album some really good points such as "Run To You", "Summer of '69" and "Heaven" but the rest of the album is pretty much forgettable. With the exception of the three songs mentioned the rest of the album can be described as a sort of pseudo pop rock, nothing heavy at all. Well it is Bryan Adams so I guess it is expected to be pretty mellow.

I was given this as a gift and I wouldn't have bought it otherwise, so unless you really like the three tracks I've mentioned (which are pretty good) or are into soft rock then this album is probably for you.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Raw brilliance!

Having been brought up on Bryan Adams, and having recently seen him in concert (very VERY highly recommended - absolutely brilliant!), I thought it was time to invest in another of his earlier albums. Thus, I looked around, and settled on this one.

The first thing that struck me when I listened to the album is that the sound is much more raw than his newer albums (Room Service and the Spirit Soundtrack), but raw in a good way. It reminded me of hearing him live, as the recording hasn't been tampered with in the way that albums nowadays are. It also contains (as another reviewer said) the fantastic "One Night Love Affair", "She's Only Happy When She's Dancin'", and "Heaven". All are nice, melodic songs that are (in my opinion) highly underrepresented. Furthermore, it was on this album that the "Summer of '69" was born - one of my all time favourite songs!

All in all, I'd recommend this album. Not as polished as the newer stuff, but doubley good!

Rating: 5 of out 5 - great rock and roll

I Doubt you'll like this album if you're anti-corporate, goth who goes on a strict diet of Korn, Slipknot and anything else black and negative.

If you like 80s music, and all the macho bravado that it carries, this is the album for you. Virtually every song is great, and Run To You, Summer Of 69, and Heaven I hear on the radio or at parties all the time.

Incase you don't know who Bryan Adams is, then don't worry. This is his only all killer album, the others will make you crindge, and 'Don't Give it Up,' is the only track aside from the tracks I have mentioned to get unlimited air play. Keep in mind Bryan Adams is not a musical pioneer, he is a Canadia rocker who got lucky.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - My favourite album of all time

This is an all time classic and a CD that everyone should have in their collection. If all artists have one 'seminal' work, this is Bryan's. It has 10 tracks, 8 of which still feature regularly in his live set lists, and these include the Bryan Adams songs that everybody knows and loves - like 'Run to You', 'Heaven', 'Summer of 69' and 'Kids Wanna Rock'.

Despite being released in 1984 I think it is timeless and doesn't sound that dated even today, unlike some of his later stuff like Waking up the Neighbours (still a good CD but not a classic like Reckless).

For me the highlights of this album are the first two tracks, 'One night love affair' and 'She's only happy when she's dancing'. These are lesser-known to non-Bryan Adams fans but to me they are the two of the most catchy, unforgettable and brilliantly-written songs not only on this album but of his whole 25-year career.

There's nothing 'clever' about this album - it is just ten very simple, very melodic, feel-good pop/rock songs which I've never tired of listening to over the years.

Rating: 3 of out 5 - Definitely the best Bryan Adams album ever!

There is no doubt that this is the best Bryan Adams album of all, as much as anything because the rest of his stuff is rather average.

Having said that, Reckless is quite an enjoyable album which spawned a few timeless hits (Run to you, Heaven and Summer of '69). But lifting it to "classic" status is perhaps a step too far.
