- Goodbye charm, hello corporate dollar.
It was always a fine line that The Corrs balanced on with their three previous albums, constantly poised between bland AOR rock by numbers and charming Irish Pop/Rock excursions; the charm, bolstered by Andrea's lovely vocals and impassioned underated playing by her siblings, thankfully nearly always won the day.
They could have been the new Irish Fleetwood Mac, circa Mid 70's, but they have now seemed to have settled for being another bland Belinda Carlisle/Shania Twain corporate song by numbers outfit.
My expectations were high for this record due to the fact that the previous unplugged recording was so fresh and direct and their manager boldly stating that this new album was going to be their "Joshua Tree"
My first suspiscion that all was not well was when i heard that Mutt "Bland but safe" Lange was brought on board to help out with writing and production. Dull over-produced wallpaper music was my first fear and the dreadfuly dated 80's sounding first single "Breathless" confirmed this.
The rest of the album blurs along in the same bland over-produced manner with the odd gem of a song leaking through the gloss to reveal itself, such as "Give me a reason" or "No more cry". Unfortunatly a couple of god songs do not make an album.
The truly sad thing about this obvious attempt to court tame American radio bandwaves is that you can almost hear some good songs fighting to break free of the "everything but the kitchen sink" production.
The corrs are an undoubtably talented outfit who can obviously write good songs and sing and play as well as the best of them. They also have a lot to say, but they have probably risen (Due to to their stunning good looks) far to quickly for their own good leaving them little room to grow and experiment. They have decided, probably understandably to play it ultra safe, with dull un-involving, soul-lite songs being the result.
Lets just hope that they get back to thier roots and start writing more honest, direct music again. The world has enough Shania Twain type acts today and the Corrs need to get their original intentions and focus back on the agenda and start making Irish Folk/Rock music with soul again and try and get back to leading instead of following.
Somehow, sadly, i dont think the masses of corporate dollars that this bland type of music will inevitably attract, will ever allow them to delver their true potential.
I sincerely hope they prove me wrong.

- Not bad... Just different
Having liked all the Corrs stuff before most notabley for the Celtic influence when I first heard this album; I didn't really like it. However now I do and taken at face value it really is an excellent album which most people will like.
The Corrs tradionalists may not like it quite as much and I like them would like to see the Celtic influence be a bit more obviously there in the future. It is there on this CD, it's just far more subtle.

- Real Music Americans Missed
Having to be an American, and loving the Corrs since their release of "Runaway" on the Disney Radio 710 AM in the USA, I purchased their breakthrough album "Talk On Corners." "In Blue" is extraordinary than what I've heard in the past few years. It's precedent single "Radio" catches the mood of anybody at anytime. The current single "Breathless" it is almost like a recollection of Madonna's "I'm Breathless" title, but the music is different (I do like Madonna's music), because it is pure pop, with a rhythmic and harmonic voices of the sisters. The rest of the album is something that Americans radio should start playing. Let's get America hear some great foreign music out of Ireland, like U2, Cranberries, and now, the Corrs.

- Very enjoyable keeping up to a good standard- Great Crack !
As usual it's COOR what a great CD They give a beautiful performance on nearly all tracks. Only criticism the awful CD sleeve design not the sexiest or stylish group picture.

- The Corrs R back again, but this time with an even better CD
This CD is even better than any of their other ones. If you buy it, you are sure to always play Breathless full blast in your house and annoy your parents - but you've got your reasoning - you simply love the song and no-one can stop you playing what you want to hear.
