- A Vain-Glorious Bible of 90's punk
"You Need Your Stars Even Killers Have Prestige" They came from Wales, they wore make-up, they had 2 musicians and 2 great looking men...who couldnt play guitar...so how the hell did they manage this? Generation Terrorists is angry but melodic, punk but stadium rock, it has great lyrics AND great tunes, beauty and bile and the most quoteable lyrics ever written...they were the eye-liner wearing sore-thumb spoiling the false druggy haze of Madchester and this album embodies every over the top statement, every bitter pout at Joe Bloggs wearing crowds and every spine-shattering live riff...in a word, Manic. "There's nothing I wanna see...There's nowhere I wanna go"

- The Best Debut Album Ever?
The Manics debut album manages to do what many artists can only dream about: be political AND rock. Strong views on a whole range of topics are aired, but the band still manage to produce some of the finest rocksongs of the decade, from the beauty of 'Motorcycle Emptiness' and 'Little Baby Nothing' to the punkiness of 'You Love Us' and 'Slash 'N Burn'. The album perhaps fades a little bit towards the end, but this is more made up for by the incredible start.

- Life will never be the same
The Manics' debut album, and one they felt so strongly about that they claimed that they would split up after its release. Thankfully the band of contradictions never kept that promise. 'Generation Terrorists' is a huge and angry album - and could possibly do with being a couple of mediocre songs shorter. Nevertheless, if the album contained 17 songs of trash and 'Motorcycle Emptiness' it would still be great. This song is an epic. 'Generation Terrorists' manages to attack Britain and its institutions ('NatWest'), the exploitation of women ('Little baby nothing') and many other things, while still rocking and being amazingly musical. A sign of a great album is one where the listener can look forward to every track starting while still enjoying the one playing, and this is one of these. Their irony and sensitivity make a perfect mix. They said "I am nothing, I should be everything", and seven years later in 1999 they are very nearly eveything.
