- MAGIC debut from The Shins
This album is inventive and compelling, from the first track to the last, a journey through sweet byrds-infested choruses while maintaining a diversity and originality of sound that any alternative US indie band (which the Shins are not) would be proud of. Standout tracks are The Past and the Pending, a moving soft acoustic-guitar driven beauty and New Slang, another slow, descending vocals line backed by a heartstoppingly good guitar riff. Buy it - you won't regret your decision.
