Average rating - 4.5 out of 5

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Funny, witty, catchy...brilliant

I bought this album as a teenager and loved it when I first bought it - as the years have gone by, I've moved onto other genres, but I thought I'd put this CD on for the old times sake.

It is still a brilliant album, and that's coming from someone who is no longer a fan of hip hop. Some really catchy songs in there, and some songs downright makes you laugh out loud. 'Ain't Nuttin But Music', 'Purple Pills', 'Fight Music', 'Devil's Night', 'Revelation' and 'Girls' are the best tracks in the album, but there are no real weak songs.

The only downside I can think of is that this album is not as lyrically deep or emotional as Eminem's earlier solo work - but that would be an unfair comparison - I don't think D12 are trying to be deep or emotional here. Overall, a great album.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Love It

Yo I'm gonna say four words Y'all Gotta Get This is the best cds of 2001

Rating: 3 of out 5 - not sure on this one

this lacks consistency. the second disc is superb with these druygs and words are weapons. unfortunately thefirst disc only has a few tracks of merit. s**t on you, fight music and aint nuttin but music being the best of a decideldly weak disc. i've always argued that eminem is better on his own and this proves it. if you can get it cheap do so but dont pay fuill price coz it aint worth it.

Rating: 1 of out 5 - How purile?

Listen, I love Rap and the harder the better. But am I the only one missing something here? I'm worried this album signalled the point where rap lost it's way.

The beats are really weak. There is nothing in the drum lines to hook you. Nothing to tap along to. Just a simple thud, thud, thud, thud.

But that's not what is most disappointing. The lyrics are just terrible. There is nothing to like or admire in the abilities of these guys. Just song after song of inane one-upmanship on beating up and abusing women etc etc. It's pretty sickening actually, and if you get a kick out of listening to it you most probably need some attention too. Whether it is real of fantasy is of little relevence.

I bought the album on the strength of Fight Music. But no other track compares to it. Don't make the same mistake I did. The only part I found myself returning to is Eminem's tirade on Limp Bizkit, a neat little beat, the usual lyrical flow which astounds, and interest in the content too.

So horses for courses. If you want genuine involvement with music, steer clear. If you want a shallow laugh - go right ahead. In 10 years this album will be forgotton.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - James' Review on D-12's Devils Night Album

This is one hell of an album, It's a type of album where you like basically everysong and they are very rare these days. em and Dre produced the album and how great it has turned out. The Dirty Dozen first album and it's a must have. My favourite songs are 'Intigator' and Sh*t Can Happen! If you dont have it, buy it and i promise you you wont regret it!

enjoy

James
