Average rating - 4.5 out of 5

Rating: 3 of out 5 - strong start,,weak finish

released in 2002 silverchair were a very different band to the grungey group that they started off as,daniel johns was gaining an understanding of writing epic tracks with an orchestral edge to them,in fact at this stage johns was writing all the material on a piano so that gives you an idea where this album would be heading and it headed there in a style that worked and a style that failed.
Some of what they do owed something to prog rock which meant that they outstayed their welcome while other tracks soared and the power ballads on show really had something going for them at times.
The album showcases some wonderful tracks filled with spirit and unchartered new levels of melody for the lads but towards the end of the album the lads shoot their own foot off and this leads to a mixed bag in total ,the first 7 or 8 tracks are good then it dips so this gets a three star rating.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - WOW!!!!

I don't know what to say... this album is absolutely AMAZING!! You have to buy it to truly understand why. But WOW!!! I'm lost for words... It deserves to be number 1 in "The Greatest Album's of All Time", it's absolutely ingenious!

Rating: 4 of out 5 - Not the best but damn close

Silverchair are without a doubt one of the most talented bands in the world and yes theres a good point that if they were that good they'd be huge but, personally i think making music is their prime concern if they were huge they'd have less time to work on their music and that would be their down fall. over the years i've heard pretty much every thing they've ever written and Neon ballroom was what converted but if your into heavy or nirvana then get Frogstomp or Freakshow, if your into bands like muse then get diorama the styles not dissimilar.
considering the albums go for around a tenner go out on a limb, you'll not regret it.

Rating: 5 of out 5 - wooooooooh, incredible

from a band who i have been listening to for quite a while, loving such albums as freak show, this really shows the musical depth in silverchair, an it's amazing! You can feel the pain and anguish and happiness in the songs, such as 'World Upon Your Shoulders', and 'Without You!'. in terms of musical depth, i can say this is only second to John Frusicante's 'Smile From The Streets You Hold'. This album contains my favourite song of ALL TIME: 'The greatest view!'. I hope that the legend Mr Daniels, recovers from his terrible arthritis, something which a master as young as this should never have to go through!!!

Get well john, u gota keep rockin!!!

Rating: 5 of out 5 - Diorama - A Masterpiece

Diorama is without a doubt my favourite album of all time. I am a hugerock and grunge fan and this album beats the likes of 'nevermind' andother great rock / grunge albums. The opening song 'across the night'wisks you off on what you realise is a magical journey of music and whenyou are listening to the last track ' after all these years' you sit backand reminice from the time you put that album on to when it finishes.Songs like 'Tuna In The Brine', 'Luv Your Life' and 'Without You' show howsilverchair have matured music wise, from the once 14yr old daniel siningthe simple lyrics 'you gonna wait fat boy, fat boy, wait till tomorrow'Silverchair have seemed to put so much work, effort, love, in this album.I have been a chair fan for a long time, and Neon Ballroom was a hugestep, but diorama overshadows the last 3 albums in a good way. Endings tosuch songs as 'too much of not enough ' make you wonder how they do it.And the band do not just command this energy on cds, but live they are thebest band I have ever seen, and iv seen alot of bands. These guys are aperfect example of what music needs to be, not what it is today. The albumalso deals with personal issue, which has helped me through some toughttimes. I think i can speak for all who have this album, Thankyousilverchair.
