- Introspective
Till and Co are really on form with this the fourth album from German Industrialists Rammstein. In some ways there is "less" music here than on Mutter; that last album was operatic in scope. This is far more introspective. And looking inward was a brilliant move on the bands part as Reise, Reise delivers something of a sucker punch...
The individual tracks have been discussed elsewhere, but it's great to see Till Lindemann stretching his vocal muscles once again. From the eldritch voice of Mein Teil to the soaring vocals of Ohne Dich and Morgenstern this album really delivers. And the bluesy riff of Los is as far from Herzeleid, Rammstein's first album as you could get.
Rammstein's discography can now be divided into two chapters. The first containing Herzeleid and Sehnsucht is raw and potent, simmering with power and unrelentingly heavy. The second contains Mutter and Reise, Reise, two very different yet similar albums that bring a more mature, developed and epic sound to the German Industrialists. Rammstein's albums are all fantastic and I would recommend them to anyone, and I'm looking forward to what they unveil with chapter 3...
I was immensely privileged to attend one of three rehearsal concerts of this album in Berlin this year. The album sounds fantastic but live, even with all the little kinks that need to be ironed out still present, it was amazing. Anyone who can get to see them live this year or next year (they're in the UK in February) should take the chance. Until then buy Reise Reise. You won't be disappointed... oh and when you get to Moskau, crank it up to 11...

- "Journey, Journey" or "Arise, arise"
After what seems like a decade (but is, in fact, three years) Rammstein return with an abum which shows a maturity which seemed to be missing from it's predecessor.
"Mutter" in 2001 was a high-octane blast through cliches which Rammstein were happy to play with. The exception was the fairly lame title track. "Reise, Reise" steps away from the "Last one into the chorus is a big girl's blouse" approach and tries to create a thing of dark beauty. The fact that they get 90% of the way there is a testament to a band who could have continued in the same vein as "Sehnsucht" and "Mutter" until the cows come home - instead, the only track which seems to bear witness to the band's back catalogue is "Mein Teil" - the rest of the album is a departure.
An old saying states that "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." In that case, Rammstein are in this for the long haul - and more power to their elbow, I say!

- Excellent - pounding rock with no compromise
This is a complete stormer of an album. Standout tracks include Mein Teil (about a cannibal) , Amerika and Moscow. Of course they are very 'shouty' but there is a sense of houmor in here as well. The vocal style is very deadpan, but thats their style - love it hate it. Definately not a chill out album (good!) and impossible to play as background music - however its great driving music and it rocks !

- quite disappointing
After the 5 star plus Mutter - an album so good it could afford to leave Rammstein's best song - Hallelujah - as a CD single filler, the long wait for the next instalment has hardly been worth it. It gets 4 stars because every Rammstein album starts off at that point in relation to most other bands. But other than the supreme 'Los' - worth paying the admission for alone in all honesty - and the majestic 'reise reise' much of this album is rammstein by numbers. If you don't know them start with Mutter and work backwards, leave this one until you're committed or you just have to own 'Los'.

- New Album, New Sound, New wonders!
I was eagerly awaiting the release of this albumn, and rushed out to get it once it arrived in my local music store. Popped it in the cd player and was not disapointed in what i found!
Certainly this album is in a slightly diferent vein to the previous masterpeice that is "mutter", but this album has a whole array of music delights awaiting the rammstein fan who has an open mind. More melodic, this album features great melodies, and i would say it is less heavy than the previous releise. My personal favorate tracks include "amour" and "stein um stein".
If you are looking for an introduction to Rammstein then get muuter, but if you are a fan, get it, the change is refreshing!
