Average rating - 3.5 out of 5

Rating: 5 of out 5 - A welcome return

I was very pleased to finally get this album as i am a huge fan of golfinger.
With such great albums as Open your Eyes and Stomping Ground behind them it will always be hard to emulate on their previous greatness but they do deliver very well.
Going back to their roots of Ska Punk and also with more personal songs e.g. Iron Fist explains about lead singer John Feldmann's encounter with the FBI and Behind the Mask explains about his views on animal cruelty and his veganism.
Forgetting the more serious side with awesome songs like stalker and wasted, damaged, I want, My Everything, Too many nights, Iron fist and Walk Away this is a great album.
Why it is a Parental Advisory i do not know! they only swear once in Walk Away and that is the only one that i now of, the same applies to Stomping Grond however there is some swearing in that one.
But in conclusion buy this album!
Buy it!
Buy it!

iron fist is a great song about when John feldmanns house was inspected by the FBI
stalker is just a classic its amazingly catchy and has great lyrics its just a classic song

Rating: 3 of out 5 - Re-review of Disconnection Notice

Goldfinger has always been a simple, straight forward poppy punk band. Their songs have never really been revolutionary, but they are brought to life with this feel-good atmosphere behind them.

Disconnection Notice on paper has all the elements that should make it an outstanding accomplishment. It's their first on Maverick Records and John Feldmann handles all the production side.

What sounds good on paper unfortnately does not transcribe as well when it's brought to life. The first thing I must point out is this a very short album. The second thing is as good as some of the songs are here, none of them really stand up to the calibre of their older tunes.

On a brighter note, if you like songs that deliver feel-good singalongs (Wasted), or some cool riffs (My Everything, Stalker) then this album is good in its own sense.

I hope the next album will improve on this one. Not a shoddy album by far, but it could have been better.

Rating: 1 of out 5 - why!!!!!!!

i wrote a review on this album a while back , but my perception has changed! Sorry this album is bloody awful! I have tried so hard to like this album but its crap, it might though appeal to a new generation of kids. Even Busted play more complex stuff!

I spoke to feldy last March at Brixton, he told me the new album would be out in june that year. Infact it came out in jan 2005. If you are going to put an album back seven months at least make it good.

The lyrics are crap, the guitar riffs are also. Infact its a bloody crap album. Bring back the old goldfinger!

Goldfinger's cover of duran duran's Rio is clear evidence of what they can do! By the way they have covered that amazing!!!
There are too many pop punk boy bands around i dont want to listed to another one!!!

Rating: 1 of out 5 - are you all mad?read amazon.com reviews for accurate reviews

Goldfinger have been one of mine, and my wife's (yeah, I ain't no teen) favourite bands for a good few years.Since the first album infact. Unfortunately, this release sees them at their worst in my opinion. Each album, whether the tracks be Ska based or punk rock based, have been anthem like. So much melody and power. Great stuff. I was worried also about "open your eyes" which could have been stale as hell, but thanks to the comedy element, and down right fun, it made it almost as good as previous releases.
But like many reviewers have stated, pop punk, whatever you want to call it, I mean stuff like Good Charlotte, Busted, all that c!@#, well, it has polluted the sound. It is everywhere you go. This must be hard for bands like Goldfinger, vandals etc. Bands that have been around a while.
well, GF now almost fit into the above category in my opinion. John was a great song writer, but I mean COME ON!!!!
check out "faith" for example. It has to be one of the most vomit inducing things I have ever heard!!!!
As a 30 yr old, I would be embarressed to play that out loud!!
I like what Goldfinger songs stand for, being vegetarian, government etc. C'mon, anyone with half a brain must realise there is something wrong with the way things are in this world.
But I am pretty upest by this album.

Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of moments where you can sense their former glory (hence the 2 stars), but this isn't evolution. This is running out of ideas, and becoming stale.

If you are new to Goldfinger, check out ANY other album. This is polished, processed, pants. the 3 p's!!!!.

c'mon John, where is the good time vibe of "darrin's coconut ass" and the anthem like "counting the days" and the awsome cover "99 red balloons"

Have to say, unless I read an interview with John somewhere regarding this release, and promising his fans the next realease will be a return to former glory, this will be the last Goldfinger album I ever buy.

On that note though, seeing these guys play live, in different countries and years I might add, have been my greatest gigs ever. I am sure they still rock live, but If I ever heard Faith live, I think I would vomit.
