Get your ideas off the ground and design your dream home with the Floorplan 3D Home Design Suite 7.0 CD-ROM. This program is for those designing the interior or exterior of their home, adding an extension or simply re-modelling a particular room.

You drag-and-drop walls, windows, doors and furniture to quickly create the look you want and then you can call up a photo-realistic 3D representation of your designs to bring it alive. In theory this sounds a good way of seeing how your plans could work out before you give the builders the go-ahead but be aware that it may take a while to master the tools. You have to learn how to measure distances within your drawings and how to display and hide dimensions. Still there is a good, thorough user’s guide that takes you through different applications (for example, how to insert and draw a wall). Using a cursor to create a wall is undoubtedly a lot simpler than using a pencil and a ruler and has the advantage of allowing you to easily delete any mistakes.

You can also add outside features to your home like balconies, driveways, fences and gates. For people planning their home or garden this is undeniably a handy tool but those who are unfamiliar with this way of working may need a bit of practice (although you should soon master the software). An additional handy feature is that any ideas can be saved on the Internet so you can share them with your friends and families.--Justin Hunt

this programme is no good-put simply. its slow and awkward to use.there are much better tools on the market.you would be better off getting a 5 year to draw out the plans with a crayon.

They are evidently to lazy to develop their software properly, so that it will run on any platform

Rating: - Save your money!

This has to be the worst piece of software ever written. I can't even award it a star as it's a waste of paper, plastic and ink. I can't even make it draw a simple box & I'm following the tutorial. The air is turning blue with frustration. I'm not a software novice either as I use 100's of different software titles. The reviewers below seem to have summed it up nicely. I'll just add that it will not accept accurate measurements. There is a minimum 15mm jump between what you want and what you get. If anyone has used it recently and made it work then they can earn money by showing the rest of us how to do it. Keep well away from it.

Rating: - Just what i needed!

This software is just what i needed!! I had been searching the internet for ages for a good Interior and Exterior Cd-Rom to re-design my house just how i wanted. I was almost about to give up searching untill i found this website! I was amazed by the price of this software. £10 for this is just such a bargin compared to other companies selling simular software at £50! This CD-Rom was just perfect for me, as my house needed re-designing quick! It was very easy to use and just a few weeks later my house, went from a total bomsite to a gorgeous dream house! I reccumend this to anybody looking to re-design there house or just a bit of play and learn in interior designing!!!

I am a college student, 2nd year Degree, and this Floorplan has been a must for me, its reasonably priced and works well with Turbo Cad and other rendering software.
Easy to learn and the Forums are a great help. Only one let down is, that circular walls are not easily drawn, and even when you do manage they are not pure circles.The lighting could be more adaptable but it is useable. On the whole a good programme.

Rating: - Floorplan 3D, not what it promise to be

I bought this product a week ago. I had to install it twice before it worked, and since then, my computer keeps on crashing. Also whilst designing, the program will freeze/or quit without an explanation and needless to say you will loose your work. And when you are trying to insert certain objects within your actual floor plan i.e. cabinets etc. it will sometimes allow you to do so, and then it won't. When trying to change the colours of tiles etc, it won't show on your actual drawing. You can't change the dimenstions of objects and frankly, if it can't do something as basic as that, what is the point. It is definitely not what I was looking for being an interior decorator. It might be good for a basic floor layout, but the rest of the program does not life up to the standard I expected. The free book that accompanies the cd, is also old and out of date. I would suggest that you look at another product if you are into interior.

Rating: - Computer-Aided Nightmare!!!

This product is definitely not for the person who has no connections with the building trade or a PHD in architectural design! The software is a nightmare and not user-friendly - that is unless you want to purchase a hardcopy of the manual or some of the other guides published by the software manufacturor - why is it not included??? Anyway, to learn how to use this software would take longer than getting a good builder to build the extension so, unless you have six months to spare!!? This must be the worst piece of software I've bought in years and as I actually design software systems I have a slight advantage of knowing what a good UI should provide. It is aimed at the building professional not a family wanting to visualise a potential house extension!
