Bad experience

Rating: 1out of 5 - Toy

I had a bad experience with Norton 2004 Security. No place to get help and nothing would work. MicroTrend also loss of money. I just got McAfee that came with Comcast and it works fine. The use of the two above can mess up your computer.

Norton=Terrible

Rating: 1out of 5 - TJ

Ok Norton is a program that flat out robs all of you virtual memory off of your computer without letting you know it though it does have the best protection over any program in the world it does not allow you to use your computer at a reasonable pace. So I suggest Zone Alarm Pro very easy peice of software and can be found at their web site im currently using it myself and it has a gaming mode letting you not have a slow computer. Also it asks about everything that is happening on your computer anytime something is accessing your network at the bottom right hand side of the screen it shows what it has done or if you want to allow it to access your computer. (does not happen in game mode) overall it beats norton 10-1. and it has the best control of any other antivirus antispy and all other protection i have ever seen.

be afraid-very afraid

Rating: 1out of 5 - norton hater

Good luck ever getting this POS off your computer. It is like a virus that it supposedly protects you from. Nothing at all has worked in removing this invasive weed from my computer.

Norton

Rating: 1out of 5 - me

omg i hate this thing the comp is sooo slow and i cannot play any of my games since 'my parents thinking this is a wonderful piece of software' updated it. they blame me!!! but all the processes running are all norton. it keeps telling me i have to update and you do not have this or that to do stuff. all in all an annoying thing!

Drags the computer to a crawl

Rating: 1out of 5 - Doug

This is the most abusive program i have ever installed on my computer. You would think in 2006 after this much time that Symantec could figure it out. Even files that have already been virus checked with no changes are virus checked again and again everytime you open it. I deleted this product. Waste of money.

Norton pain

Rating: 1out of 5 - Robieere

My Sony Vaio was great laptop - but a month ago I loaded Norton 2006. Now I want to throw the darn thing out the window. Its slowed it down so much. I am uninstalling Norton in two mintues

SLOW COMPUTER

Rating: 1out of 5 - Ultramarine

I have just bought and paid for (this morning), Norton antivirus. I did use Trend PC-Cillin which was fine.
This morning my computer was working fine. Now it stops and start, and is VERY slow.
Also it keeps finding intrusive progs trying to invade my PC. Nyet (No) They are not there. 20 times today, I get message, caught and cured this that or the other. This is crap. I go to Norton Site, No facility that I can find to contact them. No Phone number.
Well, anyone else suffering like this?
I am happy really, Just got married. TV YORL.

Norton bogging down O/S

Rating: 2out of 5 - Danny

Wouldn't recommend it at all. Annoys you with warnings about your O/S (tells you to update windows) this wouldn't be an issue with a legit copy of windows but lets face it, 9/10 copies of windows are illegal. Also has at least 5 processes running at any one time, interferes with everyting, updates and bogs down your computer and generally seem to slow down and interfere with everything.
I installed it a few months ago, it was OK at first but gradually got worse and worse.
My advice; uninstall and download AVG and Zonealarm for nothing. I did and its like I cut a ball and chain off my computer.

Norton

Rating: 3out of 5 - Norton user

I've used norton internet security 2005 and recently upgraded to the 2006 version. It had caught about 3 virus' and the firewall never said anything about hack attepts. the whole product had been going good but after weeks of downloading updates the whole program got bigger and bigger causing my system to slow down to a very poor state. system start ups took nearly 5 minutes and the shutdown would take about 10 minutes. After getting impaitient with this program I uninstalled it before my computer would become too slow to even use anything, and although its gone, my computer stills is a little sluggish.

It's a very good program, but it slows down too much and it screws up too many times.

if they had zero, i would give it to them.

Rating: 1out of 5 - a frustrated customer.

Rating: 3 of out 5 - Does the job.

It does the job, but slows the computer down as well. (Especially when starting up). The parental controls take a long time to load which can be a pain when you want to visit a website!

The antivirus software seems fine. It has blocked all viruses that gave entered my inbox :)

Rating: 1 of out 5 - Not very good in XP

Worked perfectly under Windows ME. Post-upgrade to XP, it runs like a one-legged dog with a sore leg. Took 10 re-installs to get it working in a basic form and then still doesn't auto enable on start up (bit of a security risk). Won't be renewing my subscription when it runs out.

Rating: 4 of out 5 - Overall good, although does have a few 'niggles'

Overall very good, had no trouble installing. Live Update is a good feature, although I've found that the firewall does tend to have a mind of it's own at times! Anti-virus is good (as can be expected!), although I personally don't use other features such as Anti-Spam and Parental Control (if anything, they just add an extra overhead to the Live Update downloads).

In the end I switched off the firewall and am using another product.

Rating: 1 of out 5 - Nightmares with Norton!

Whilst downloading Norton's live updates, everything just stopped half way through. I had to shut down the PC, then after, I couldn't access any secure websites. I soon found out that Norton customer support is next to useless. Couldn't un-install Norton internet security, and it messed up my windows so that my PC would start properly. All in all, a nightmare that internet security packages are supposed to prevent, not cause. Won't be using Norton again. Rubbish.

Rating: 1 of out 5 - Norton security 2004

When my definitions expired I was prompted to upgrade to this (via download). I paid my money and product was downloaded from Symantec US. Well, computer crawled along at snail pace, emails slow, websites crashing, pc freezing. I managed to surf to reviews of this product and it confirmed my worst fears, programm is trying to do too much and cpu can't handle it all. Luckily I got my money back and reinstalled NAV 2003 and bought separate firewall. The program tries to do everything, block spam, block popups, block this and that. To make it run you have to disable all of these, so not much point in having it then.
