Rating: - Dragon Naturally speaking

This is advertised as windows 7 compatable but it is not. It will not work with 64 bit windows 7 computers which is most of them now. I have no idea how well it works when loaded as I do not have a computer it will work on. My advice is do not buy

Rating: - Great Product Dragon Naturally Speaking

Dragon Naturally Speaking is very easy to set up, followed advice on training speech, used on MS word 2007, worked very well after just two hours training.Over the week, recognition improved immensley, even though I had a cold. I haven't fully explored the programs potential only scratched the surface, but I can work 4 to 5 times faster than before. Great product easy to use.

I am used to speaking into a dictaphone and my writing is more fluent from dictation than writing. I spent hours training the software for this - which helped and i can dictate uncomplicated passges. But any thing longer and more complex needs to be done by my secretary or self typed otherwise the time spent correcting the script makes the whole thing counterproductive. maybe in a few years....

Rating: - Under performer

I needed this software as I am a 2 fingered typist at best and in a new job needed to be able to "type" clinic letters - so about 16 letters per day and I couldn't really afford a secretary. I trained the software over and over using medical terminology but despite my best efforts it really cannot cope with the language, although some of its interpretations were funny, nor the speed at which I needed to dictate to keep on time with my clinics.
It is useful if 1) you only need to do short documents, and you have time to repeatedly correct it and proof read it 2)if you speak very clear English, 3) you do not need to use any terminology of any description.

Rating: - Talking to your computer is not mad!

I ordered Dragon Naturally Speaking Preferred from Softweb through Amazon and it arrived 2 days later - excellent for standard delivery!

A doddle to set up, just pop in the CD, follow the instructions and start talking to set up your user profile.

I have not used the headphones provided as I already had a set of plantronics 310 which work excellently.

I also have set up a second profile using my webcam, a Logitech C300 which again produces excellent results and means that I really can just sit here and talk naturally to my computer.

Dragon gets even more accurate as you use it and train it to your voice but results straight out of the box are both astonishing and encouraging.
