- If only the world was still like this. This is feel good.
If ever you feel down - watch this film - I defy you not to feel better after watching it. It's not possible. You don't need to be a rugby fan (Wales or other) to appreciate this humour. It is everything funny, perfectly done. It is not like you're watching actors perform, it is more as if you are a fly on the wall of a documentry. I havn't seen this film in 15 years and I can still do this review it left such a lovely impression on me.
You owe it to yourself to watch this film, it should be on the school curiculum as it lifts everyone's spirit. Perfection Oscar material from all actors and production crew.

- IF welsh and you love rugby then this is a must !!!!
I first shaw this film when it orginally came out on the welsh channel four channel s4c.I literally laughed my socks off, at the role of windsor davies as the head of the wru,and his trip to Paris, France was fantastic. This film is a must for all welsh rugby loving fans who dream back to the years when welsh rugby rule over everything.

- A Fusion of Steptoe & Are you being Served on Felinfoel
"I've heard of a caterpiller turning into a butterfly, but....", Mr Lloyd Evans mumbles as he eyes his long lost war time French lovely. Meanwhile the antics are reaching a hilarious climax with Mog (Windsor Davies) sparking a madcap bar room brawl in the Parisian brothel.
The whole film lurches from one hilarious moment to the next, live footage of the actual game simply highlighting the realism of the Tour mentality that seeps through the beer soaked pores of the film.
Everything you want from a film - Welsh heroes, rugby, fighting, brothels, even a bit of flesh as a bonus. Maldwyn himself provide a decade of one liners.
The only thing I don't like about the film is the actual lack of a Grand Slam - still Glyn manages to get a result.

- Fantastic Comedy
Timeless! As fresh now as it was twenty five years ago. A little bit of 'Ealing' from The Valleys of Wales!

- 'Go the whole hog,Mog!'
Well, what have we here? Quite simply the finest 50 minutes of Welsh comedy since Ryan Davies first said 'And don't call Will on your Father!'. I wouldn't expect too many people living to the right of Offa's Dyke to get what it's all about, but those of us who have enjoyed so many tours (particularly to watch the boys lose in Paris), there is a quintessential Welshness that soars from the screen in this affectionately scripted and wonderfully performed slice of life.
This is probably Windsor Davies's finest hour as Mog the Tour leader, who insists on reminding the boys that they are 'ambassadors for Wales', in the city where 'you'll see it all, kid'. No review of Grand Slam would be complete without reference to Hugh Griffith's portrayal of Caradog Lloyd Evans - the eyebrows are as expressively unruly as when he picked up his Oscar for Ben Hur and the relationship with Glyn ('I'm used to his smells') is surely reminiscent of Albert and Harold Steptoe at their crotchety best.
Sion Probert's Maldwyn ('I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere, so beware!') hits the mark as the high camp boutique proprietor, whose window tribute to 'the boys' means so much to him. The supporting characters come straight from a weekend with the committee and supporters of quite possibly any Welsh rugby club, even today.
I have waited over 20 years for this to be released. Now that it's here I'll be snapping up a copy or two for fellow exiled Welshmen - simply brilliant!
